Okay, it's pretty clear that Atlanta will win the division. But who'll finish last in the WNBA East? It looks like a three-way battle between Connecticut, New York and Chicago. My money is on the Sun....

As young and inconsistent as the Liberty are, and as injury-decimated as the Sky are, both these teams have shown a spark and have something to prove. The Sun seem to be running on empty, have a fairly tough schedule to finish up with, and the only thing they have to prove is what a mistake Sun's management made when they fired Mike T. and brought in Anne Donovan. And I think they've already accomplished that.

Mike admitted in his post-game comments today that it's fun to beat the Sun. He's 6 and 1 against the coach that replaced him, 3 and 0 this season, and the two teams meet twice more.

Yeah, my money's on the Sun.

There's talk that Delle Donne my come back late this month. If that's the case and she's even 75%, there's no way the Sky finish last. It certainly could be the Sun that finish last.

Might be too late for EDD to make a difference. She may be too far out of shape to compete at an WNBA level. Those girls play fast!

The Sun need to get someone else than Bone at center (she misses way too many chip shots right at the basket) and Douglas takes/misses too many three pointers. She's like Toliver in that regard. I'd rather see Renee taking it to the basket or Bentley shooting a long two.

Faris needs to drive to the basket instead of rushing a jumper every time she gets the ball (which isn't much).

Should they contact Jen Schlott?

I'd like to see NY miss out on the playoffs so they can have a shot at one of the first 4 picks. while not a great class, being able to possibly get KML, Williams, Stokes, Harrison or maybe 1 or 2 other players would be good for them.

Bill would probably say they couldn't "get" the system and would waive them...

For some reason I thought the Sun get NY's first pick in 2015 as part of the Charles trade?

I don't think there's a race to the bottom per se, in either conference. Almost any team that loses their last 2 or 3 is vulnerable.

Other than Atlanta, everyone in the East looks erratic. I think Chicago's fate depends on EDD. Without her and Sloot, even Piph and Syl don't give them enough ... unless Washington, NY, and Conn. really tank.

That is correct. The Sun get NY's 2015 first round pick as part of the Charles trade so the Sun will have 2 first round picks next year unless they make some sort of other trade.

Even if she can only play 15 minutes a game it will help. She's valuable just as a decoy. Nobody will dare leave her open. Also, I doubt out-of-shape EDD is any worse on defense than Quigley.

The Liberty and Sky have shown some life.... the Sun now have last place all to themselves.... they've won two of their last 11 games... they have Minnesota and Atlanta next.... if I had actually bet on the Sun finishing last I'd be doubling down at this point. Who might be available to coach next year?

I like Quigley. She can get hot and score some points.

Same here. And she's a hard worker. But she's nowhere close to the Sky's other options at 3 when it comes to defense. EDD and T. Young are far better.
