Current Favorites For 4 Number One Seeds:

Arizona: 1 NET
UConn: 6 NET
Michigan: 3 NET
Duke: 2 NET

The biggest thing we have going for us is we currently have 3 wins in the Top 12 of the NET (Illinois, Florida, Kansas) either on neutral courts or on the road. Our only loss is to the Number 1 team in the country, when we were down to 2 starters. We have a better resume than Illinois (partially because of a head to head result) and we have the same amount of Q1 wins as Iowa St, with 1 less loss.

I list the remaining challenging games for all the teams considered in the different tiers. Some of these games listed may not be great teams, but I considered anyone who might be even remotely bubble worthy. More than any year I can remember, the schedules of most of these teams in contention for the 1 line are back loaded, especially in the Big 12. There will be a ton of movement this month.

Remaining Challenging Games:

Arizona: @Kansas, Texas Tech, BYU, @Houston, Kansas, Iowa State
UConn: @St. Johns, @Butler, @Villanova, St. John’s
Michigan: @Ohio St, @Purdue, v.s. Duke, @Illinois, @Iowa, Michigan St.
Duke: @N. Carolina, Clemson, v.s. Michigan, Virginia, @NC State, N.Carolina

Next Tiered Group:

Illinois: 4 NET
Iowa St: 5 NET
Nebraska: 10 NET
Houston: 7 NET

Illinois: @Michigan St, @USC, @UCLA, Michigan
Iowa St: @TCU, Kansas, Houston, @BYU, Texas Tech, @Arizona
Nebraska: Purdue, @Iowa, @USC, @UCLA, Iowa
Houston: @BYU, @Iowa St, Arizona, @Kansas, @Oklahoma St

Unlikely unless a huge run:

Kansas: 12 NET
Purdue: 8 NET
Vanderbilt: 14 NET
Florida: 11 NET

Kansas: Arizona, @Iowa St, @Oklahoma St, Houston, @Arizona
Purdue: @Nebraska, @Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, Michigan St, @Ohio St
Vanderbilt: @Auburn, Texas A@M, @Missouri, Tennessee, @Kentucky, @Tennessee
Florida: @Texas A@M, @Georgia, Kentucky, @Texas, Arkansas, @Kentucky

I believe the top seed gets to choose their region…how does it work after that? Next 1 seed sent to the nearest sw 16 site and so in? Then the 2s by S curve?

Thx

So in current situation who gets to choose East region , UConn or Duke ?

.-.
Houston is an interesting case. I could see rewarding them playing in Houston as a 1 seed. But as a 2 or 3 seed, how is that fair to the top 2 seeds in that region? But I can see the committee doing that...
Saw a video where Gary Parrish predicts Houston to defeat UConn in the title game.

Gary tends to try and be different and changes his view weekly. He picked StJ his number one team preseason. That's not an outlandish take - I'd say any combo of the top 6 teams is a valid pick. UM, AZ, UConn, Houston, Duke, Illinois are reasonable guesses.

.-.
So if we had our choice, would we pick 1 seed in the south with Houston as the 2 or 2 seed in the East with Duke as the 1? Our record is the same in either scenario, but just a question if you had a choice.

This. People getting their panties in a bunch over NOTHING. Can you all please just let the games play out??? It will save you all a lot of worthless consternation.
Aren’t the first seed reveals coming out soon?

.-.
I'll take whatever seed and whatever region we get. We won't drop below a two seed and if we have what it takes to win it all, we can do it as a two. There is no school we'd have to knock off as a two that we wouldn't have to as a one.

This season will end up with us knowing we were able to do it or we weren't. We're beyond claiming "we could have gone a little further with a better draw".

Well said. Especially this year I don’t see a major difference between most 3 seeds and 4 seeds. I’d rather a better geographical path than a higher seed. 2 seed in East > 1 seed in South (west is 99% going to Zona and Midwest to Michigan)

This time last year Houston could not have played in the South because they were the host. Their AD successfully got them off the hook as the host (I think Rice is now the host) so they will likely play there as the 1 or 2 seed.

My first answer without thinking is 2 in the east. Either way though you (probably) end up with either Houston or Duke in the Elite 8 right? I think of the two UConn matches up better against Duke. Also Kelvin Sampson is a great coach.

Playing there as a 1 is fine. Playing as a 2 is a travesty for the 1, whoever it is.

Chatgpt only found a few isolated instances of a 2 playing in their home market, and claimed the committee tries to avoid that so as not to disadvantage the 1. Any insights?

I’ve mentioned in some other thread how Houston got Purdue in Indianapolis last year in the 1v4 matchup in the Sweet Sixteen. So I’m not holding my breath on the committee avoiding a similar situation again. The fact that they made Rice the host back in the summer felt intentional. Basically a “sorry we gave you a road game against Purdue, this year you get to play at home” type of thing.
