My husband and I ended up talking about old cartoons and I mentioned Wally Gator. It seems to me it was part of either a lineup or rotating show after Ranger Andy. The other cartoons were Clutch Cargo, Gumby, and Yogi Bear. I was very young so the details are kind of fuzzy. Anywho, my husband has never heard of, or maybe doesn’t remember, Wally Gator. Could it have been a regional show? I think it was a Hannah Barbara cartoon(?)

I grew up in Connecticut and he grew up in Indiana and Albany NY.

Wally looks vaguely familiar. The cartoon was in color? Can't be that old. Crusader Rabbit was in black and white, precursor to Rocky and Bullwinkle.

I remember the name and what Wally looked like and nothing else. Per Wiki the show ran from 9-62 to 8-63 with 52 episodes. I was 14 at the time and past the age of that kind of cartoon so I don't know why I recognize Wally Gator. Now I'm in Florida and there is a big ole Gator in the retention pond behind the house but he doesn't wear a hat.

Speaking of "rangers", anyone remember Ranger Rick? The Ranger Station? I swear it was a TV show that locals could show up and be in the audience. I am pretty sure my brother and I were on the show when we were like 6 or 7. Must have been around 1970?

The Ranger Station was the replacement after Ranger Andy died, I think in the late 60's. I only know Ranger Rick as a kids' magazine from the National Wildlife Federation. My wife and I both had to read it several times to our daughter the day it came in.

Mr Goober was the afternoon kids show in New Haven. My mother and her friend somehow scored tickets for two of us (born two days apart) to be on it for our birthday one year.

I was more of a Deputy Dawg kinda guy. "Ouch!! My toe bone!!!"

The cartoon, Wally Gator, must have been repeats when we saw them. I remember Lippy Lion and Hardy Har Har much more. And Touche Turtle for "Touche away!!"

Musky the Muskrat. 😃

I was 7-8 years old & recognized the cartoon as soon as I saw the post but didn’t remember the gators name.
