-> UConn quarterback Joe Fagnano (Williamsport, PA) was announced as the winner of The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston's Bulger Lowe Award given to the best offensive player of the year on the FBS or FCS level. Fagnano has guided the Huskies to a 9-3 record and second-straight season of bowl eligibility this season.

The 87th annual Bulger Lowe Award, given to the best players on offense and defense in the NCAA Bowl Subdivision/Football Championship Subdivision (FBS/FCS). The Bulger Lowe is the nation's second-oldest nationally recognized college football award, after the Heisman Trophy.

Fagnano, who is a candidate for the Heisman Trophy, has also been named a semifinalist for the 2025 Davey O'Brien Award. This season he has won the New England Gold Helmet Award twice and been named a Manning Award Star of the Week on four occasions. <-

Congratulations Joe! The last UConn player that won the award was in 2016. Previous UConn players were
  • Noel Thomas Jr. (2016): Awarded as the top player in New England.
  • Dan Orlovsky (2004): Awarded as the best offensive player in New England.
  • Carl Bond (1998): Awarded as the best offensive player in New England.
  • Glenn Antrum (1988): Awarded as the best offensive player in New England.

What a great year Joe has had! I remember UConn fans claiming that we couldn’t have offense that threw the ball all over the field because of the weather up here. Our offense has been a joy to watch all year long. Go Huskies!
