QB Joe Fagnano > Baltimore Ravens Mini-Camp/UDFA

Still spinning that excuse I see.

First of all…there is no proof that he was injured…just a rumor probably started by his agent to get him out of the bowl game.

Second…so..getting over this supposed injury and playing in the Shrine Bowl got him what exactly? A UDFA offer the same as he was projected before the bowl game.

Third…did his injury preclude him from standing on the sidelines?

Let’s face it…he just didn’t want to go to a bowl he went to the year before. He didn’t want to go to a bowl without his head coach. He was done with UConn after the FAU game.

That’s fine….I will still always be thankful for him delivering a great season (just like I am appreciative for what Mora did)…I just think it was a crappy way for him to end the season.

Bell was obviously getting drafted, and as opposed to JF, he at least made an appearance to support his teammates.
Bell playing one series is not supporting his teammates.

He just wanted to say look at me I played in the game to help my teamates.

What he did is just as bad, or worse, that not showing up at all.

Getting healthy is spin now?

You sound like you were really traumatized by this.

I thought this at the time myself as it took away from the guys on the field I felt like considering there was momentum on that drive.

Thinking it over I think Bell meant well but was put into an awkward position due to the massive dropouts. I think Joe opting out led to the massive drop outs.

It's really hard to get drafted as a QB as only 10 to 12 QBs get drafted each season. I think not getting drafted helps a QB like Joe as he can pick a team in which he sees a path to sticking. Kind of surprised that the Ravens are bringing in Pavia as well which may or may not have impacted Joe's decision to join the Ravens if he had know that.
I can't stand Pavia, dude has no humility. Really hope Joe beats him out, maybe that'll humble him a bit lol

.-.
That’s a good deal for Joe….I’d take a chance on him all day every day over Pavia. Pavia needs to learn to speak Canadian. Or whatever language they speak in Repole’s dog shit league.

But, I kinda feel like we could have had full participation in the Fenway Bowl without jeopardizing a second day draft spot or a UDFA deal in Baltimore.

.-.
Coach on the field. That's a tie-breaker.
For now I'll choose to put a single disappointment aside and focus on what he did here and wish him success that reflects well on UConn.
And he'll never forget that. I wouldn't be suprised if he mentions you in his post-Super Bowl win interview.

Agree with your second point about participation.

I am sure skipping the bowl game and deserting his teammates positioned him well for this opportunity /s

Ok…I appreciate everything JF did for this team but I am still bitter about his decision to let UConn get destroyed in the bowl game. I wish him well…but I am still bitter.
Man. Our relationship with this kid is so complicated.

He had a rough start in 2023, got hurt, was declared the worst quarterback in the history of the program/nepo baby of the OC, clawed back the starting job the next year, had one of the greatest seasons any UConn quarterback has ever had, then gets crapped on for sitting out an exhibition game.

He finished his UConn career with a 48/6 TD/INT. All people really have to say is "thank you and good luck!"

It is not complicated. He was a member of a team and bailed when there was a game to play.

Some people really have a stick up their bum for this guy. He gave us more than we ever thought we'd get out of him. No one thought he'd be going to the NFL when he came down from Maine. No one. And y'all get your underwear so damn twisted up because he didn't want to get hurt in a game that doesn't matter. Give me a break. Good on Joe for getting the opportunity of a life time. Thanks for all he did in turning our program around. Y'all need to stop dwelling on the negative and start being happy. It's a way of life that some people around here could really use a lesson on.

Does everyone on this site still mad about the Jello Pudding Pops Fenway Bowl have an ulcer? Pent up and misplaced anger can't be good for you. As a certain Disney movie taught us, Let it go.

Stating an opinion does not mean I am not happy.

The game mattered because it was played.

Yes he could have gotten injured but he also could have gotten injured in the senior bowl game he played in. I would think maybe more so in the senior bowl as you are playing with people you haven't played with before which could lead to missed blocks, broken plays etc.

Yes Uconn got a lot out of him but he also got alot out of Uconn which gave him the opportunity.

If the game didn't matter or wasn't important enough Uconn could have declined the invite.

Expressing an opinion is not misplaced anger and isn't good for me or bad for me and I do not have an ulcer.

Of course the game mattered.

Except it wasn't the biggest game. It's the GD Fenway Bowl against Army.
We should've just turned it down because they didn't invite us to the college football playoff.

This is UConn football we're talking about, we're owed the biggest stage.

Not having a good tie in sucks.

Sorry I didn’t get excited about the Boston Bowl in a baseball stadium for the second year in a row.
