With all concessions to the things we can't see (practice, academics, etc.), coach's incomparably legacy, I personally found his approach with the kid appalling. Not at all infrequently, endgame, a massive lead, the bench is empty, except for her, until the last minutes. A real testament to the incredible character of the players on this team, that she always appeared, at least in the public eye, engaged, and valued.

Long way from coach's post-game, somber, hallway confession in the immediate aftermath of last season's Iowa semi-final heartbreaker. When asked about regrets, things he might have done differently, he specifically mentioned the lack of playing time afforded Samuels.

So, good for her - hopefully she'll find a spot where her personality and skill set flourish. We'll be watching and rooting.

I went to the UConn open practice on the Sunday before the NCAA Tournament started. Got there around 2:30, practice started at 3:00. There were five players already out there hanging out and getting shots up. Paige, Sarah, KK, Shade, and Q. Four rotation players and Q.

That in and of itself showed me something. It is very hard to stay engaged and to keep putting in the effort when there is no reward on the back end.

I bet many would be surprised to know she scored 9 points in the Big East Final against Georgetown in 2024.

I saw a lot of games in person over the last two years, and my impressions are that she always brought energy with her onto court, very quick/athletic and can light it up, high arching shot with a bit of a fall away, underrated rebounder, not always sure where she was supposed to be, a good teammate and crowd favorite. I think there are many programs that would love to have her and I hope she finds one where she can earn plenty of playing time.

And she will always have National Champion on her resume, and will always be a Husky.

All the best Q, go kill it somewhere.

This was an easy call for all involved. Good kid, likeable, fan favorite, but was never going to get any playing time unless there was another pandemic. Similar to Ines, I hope she winds up at a decent mid-major where she can start and make a real contribution. I'll be there's at least one more announcement to come, and hopefully this gives Geno a nudge to get a 1 season post player from the portal.
Ines was pretty good but Q far more talented and likely to have options at a relatively high major if she is willing to risk competing for playing time - she'll figure it out, depends on her aspirations

I always loved to see Q play while at Uconn. She has great speed and a pretty . Hopefully she'll go to a school that starts herc because she deserves that. I believe that with more regular playing time she will work her way to stardom. Only wishing her good luck and success!!!!!

Geno claimed that he regrets not playing Q more in the Final Four game vs. Iowa. He was trying to protect a freshman from the pressure of such a big game, but he later realized that Q was confident & up to the challenge. She could have provided needed rest for the UCONN starters.

Sad to lose her, happy for her future. I'll miss the radiant smile I saw, especially after the National Championship.

Good luck Q!

Good move for her. She would be great at a mid-major for sure. A team like Troy or SD State would be a great fit.

It would be cool if she still took part in the parade on Sunday
Of course ! It's a celebration of who they are and what they have achieved. It has very little or nothing to do with where they go from here. It would make no more sense for her to be missing than it would for Griffin or Chen to be missing, or Bueckers for that matter.

It was great to see Q at the parade and WNBA draft. UConn family is still family.

Per an old article on The Athletic, it said the schools originally offered were NCSU, Wake Forest, UNC, and another pub mentioned Miamii. It will be interesting to see where she lands. After seeing her with the team at the draft, I wistfully said to the hub, I wish she changes her mind, however it takes a special person to put in the amount of work required at a program such as UConn, and not see much playing time. No matter where she goes, I will cheer for her.

She seemed to have taken a step back this season mostly in her lack of aggression on the offensive end of the court.............I think her confidence was shaken a bit as she moved to the end of the bench which is understandable.......a fresh start at a school where she would get consistent minutes is exactly what she needs.....

I for one will miss Q. Always with a smile, played with intensity, not afraid to hoist up the three and of course her signature doo ! Hopefully, she will land somewhere she can get some significant playing time so I can cheer her on. Thank you Q for choosing UCONN. Remember, you will always be welcomed here. Once a Husky, always a Husky !

I have a feeling that Q could wind up at Maryland or Georgetown. We'll find out soon.

I wish sometimes that she would change her mind too. (Of course I have felt the same for many players that have transferred.) I kinda hoped that she would realize that two of her classmates, KK and Ashlynn, did the work in practice and earned their spots in the rotation, their first season out of necessity but the second out of what they proved in practice. I was hoping that a light would go off in her head and she would come back bound and determined to become a version of Aubrey. Many BYers post that she has the athletic ability to do this and she could try to make an impact.
Hopefully hanging with her Husky family the last couple of weeks might alter her thinking but if not, good luck to her.
