@rpurvis5: Love my new home and new teammates !
It must be a pretty awesome feeling being at UConn instead of NC State for Rodney. Mark Gottfried is a joke of a coach, he's finally at the place where he new he should've been from the start.

I hope that he uses the year well and benefits from playing with Shabazz and other Huskies. I don't know anything about Rodney, but I do wonder if he might have had some growing up to do in relation to the transfer situation. Maybe it was just a bad fit at NCST, but KO would seem to be the perfect mentor for him with emphasis on team play.

Good thing about him is he's a proven hard worker and will stay in tip top shape.....along with playing against the best backcourt in the country how better to be "off " a year??!?

Saw the whole team at the soccer game last night. Giffey was the only one I didn't see, seems like they are a pretty tight group.

Giffey is playing in the FIBA EuroBasket World Cup in Spain until around mid/late September.

I think Purvis stated he wanted to remove himself from his environment. His claim it was too distracting. Of course some of us believe he didn't like Gottfried as a coach and/or a reduction in playing time bothered him.
I would say that the kid has his reasons and we can't be certain if its the stated or the conjectured or both for his departure. We'll never know. Programs all go through this. UConn lost RS and we don't know all the reasons for the transfer.

I'm hoping that Purvis makes the most out of his new situation the same as Roscoe. Needless to say both guys did not make their decision lightly because both have to wait a year before doing something they love. That's an eternity to young people. Heck we have people climbing the walls in this forum between April and October and some of those doing the climbing are old farts.:)

Agree overall.

BTW, isn't a young person who joins us oldies in the wall climbing a spiritual old fart? Some of us oldies kill the dead space by playing character assassination on the Cesspool. We haven't totally figured out how to waste time by texting or tweeting.

I would describe these individuals as kindred old farts!

My belief is that there are "spiritual old farts" as you state, but not young dudes climbing walls with old dudes. In my mind they are young people who have a wisdom beyond their years and/or experiences that belie rational explanation. Wasting time on the Boneyard during lag days, and worse, in the cesspool, is anything but wise!:)

Hope you're right.

As the great Greek philosopher Cinderella once said "Don't know what you got til it's gone".
They paved Olympus and put in a storage area for chariots....
