I really hope we all took a lot of time to reflect and appreciate this team as the season was happening. This was truly one of the most dominant teams I’ve ever seen play. 37-3 and NCAA champions. This is NOT normal.

Tristen Newton. The cool and calming presence. 20 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds

Cam Spencer. He WANTED this. 8 rebounds, most in the game except for Edey.

Steph Castle. 90 foot defense all night. No fear from the freshman. 15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists

Alex Karaban. Shot wasn’t falling so he crashed the boards for 3 offensive rebounds and played great defense all night.

Donovan Clingan. Matched up against the 2 time NPOY and made him WORK. I’ve never seen Edey that tired. He got his, but DC made him work for it, which opened up the game for us.

Hassan Diarra. 13 minutes but scored 9 points and had the same, lockdown defense as Castle.

Samson Johnson. Fouled out but didn’t back down. It takes guts to rise up for a dunk knowing Zach Edey is near by, and he had 2 electric ones.

Dan Hurley. There were 16 coaches in the history of the game with multiple titles. Now there’s 17. Dan Hurley has tied guys like Bill Self, Rick Pitino, Jay Wright, and Billy Donovan. Legendary company for a legendary coach.

Lets. Go. Huskies.
You forgot the greatest coach of all time. The man who got us started, Coach Jim Calhoun

Ask Gary Parrish. Who right through yesterday kept going to that argument. If I ever see him I'd ask him if he has 2 eyes.

He'll probably say if Purdue had gotten it's rightful #1 overall and worn white, they would have won.

This morning, my school had an all-school assembly and in the last minute our head of school asked if I can talk to all the kids about UConn basketball. It was pretty cool since about 1/2 of our kids are born outside of the US and have little to no knowledge about American sports.

It was totally impromptu and at the end, I led the entire school (420 kids) to a Big Red UConn Chant.

Pure bliss.

Was it just me or did it seem like every announcer / commentator in the tourney was blatantly rooting against us? They spent 90% of the time complimenting, discussing the other team (Pre-game / Halftime / in game) and little attention to what our team was doing / accomplishing.

Clear example was last night is when Rafferty (without missing a beat) declared, after Cam absorbed a HARD foul - Bill quipped “he knows how to sell it,” Really Bill? Liked how you also clammed up as the replay showed how bad the foul was… Classy.

It seemed like every halftime / pregame / Game Call was 90% on the other team, and very little about the significance of what UConn was doing. A bit disrespected in my book. If this was a Duke/NC/Kentucky team doing what we did, they would be lathering them with praise / attention. For us, they only came around when they had to… Barkley looked like he has personally lost the game when he had to give Uconn the respect we deserved.. Sorry Chuck.

So I was hoping Dan would be a bit more reflective in his post game comments….But after the treatment we got this year- kinda of see where Dan felt the need to take the opportunity to remind people that we are the most successful program in last 30 years.

I haven't read this whole thread, but we owe a tip of the hat to Painter for coming out with a generic game plan and not changing it despite the fact that Edey was single-handedly keeping Purdue in the game for most of the first half. Shouldn't the Alabama game have showed Painter that counting on one or two players to make amazing plays the whole game is a bad plan? There may have been nothing Purdue could have done, but that is not an excuse for Painter doing nothing.

Can we please give Samson his flowers? After his 2nd foul I was legitimately sweating with anxiety in a way I hadn't before in the tournament. In the 2nd, he obviously couldn't best Edey physically 1-on-1 but the fronting and the constant battling for position, that undoubtedly had an effect on tiring him out. He fought so hard to battle through his disadvantage and his cumulative efforts added up on Edey.

As always, his dunks are the demoralizing cherry on top of disappointment cake for the other team. Was really an admirable job in an arguably already decided contest for his match up.

It was just you, the last month and really this entire season was a constant promo for the UConn program. Every 2 minutes there was a new stat being talked about to highlight our dominance

Wow, so much to say but most of it has already been said. At halftime last night I found myself thinking that it would be a real shame if this team doesn't win it all. They just deserved it. You just go down the list and you had every player playing totally unselfishly and simply doing what they needed to do to help the team win. Absolutely amazing. Clearly the best TEAM in college basketball.

Six wins in 25 years is unthinkable. If that's not obvious to you, check yourself now. It's so unlikely. Prior to this year, I think over the past twenty years, the #1 overall seed going into the tournament won the championship twice (it's something close to that, I didn't look it up again). I had the same thought after last year about how unlikely it was, and now it's happened again.

I'd be interested to know what odds a sportsbook would post for any team to win 6 championships in the next 25 years?

Enjoy the ride!

It wasn't Painter doing nothing. It was UConn dictating that we are going to let your best player get his and not allow your other players to get anything. Purdue was the second best three point shooting team in the country, and we chose to take that away, and did it successfully. UConn was able to do it because they had the players to do it. Clinghan was unique. A rare case of a single guy able to make things just difficult enough for Edy to make the math work out. Our guards were too much for there guards. We wore them down just like we did to all of the other teams. There was nothing Painter could have done.

I know we complain all the time about not getting respect from ESPN, but maybe that's starting to change. I know this is completely meaningless, and the lineup will definitely change, but ranking this projected lineup #4 is a clear sign of respect for what Hurley has built

way to early top 25s have never been more irrelevant. I preferred the old ways, but it is what it is

I was lurking on Syracusefan last year and after our 1st round win they started a thread to laugh at us. That helped with the mojo so much. Thanks Syracusefan!
I went their last night to see what they were chatting about, and to their credit they dusted off their thread about Ollie getting fired and Hurley being hired. Great read.
