The game was never in doubt, and I think Geno wanted to see how hard each player played. The defensive tenacity was turned up today. We were getting turnovers left and right and initially they weren’t translating to points.
Jana might be playing her way into the starting lineup. Serah didn’t do anything to help her cause today. Zero points, zero rebounds, and 2 turnovers. She was either out of position when trying to rebound because I saw her trying to come over the back of a lot of players, or they were doing a good job of boxing her out. Jana had 6 points, 16 boards, and 8 assist which were a record for the latter 2. I noticed when Jana went for her rebounds, most she was uncontested on a lot which means they couldn’t move her from her spot, or she was clearing space in the paint. If she can only stop making the silly fouls which she did today and hit the 8-10 foot jumper more consistently, she would be the starting center already.
Azzi's release point on her jumper was wrong in the first half. Her shot was flat and subsequently short on all her shots. In the second half she adjusted a little bit and her shot started to fall. She is a great defender and your rarely going to get around her but I see her vertical defense isn’t the best in that she doesn’t contest a lot of shots of the player she is guarding. She finished with 4 steals.
Ashlynn was her solid self. 10 points, 5 boards, and 5 steals.
Sarah played sparingly due to that sore ankle, but I have no concerns with her.
Arnold's 8 points and 10 assists were impressive. I would like to see her work on that outside jumper. Did her shooting regress from the last 2 years? She can’t hit a 3 at all.
Blanca is still rusty. Obviously, you can't do any shooting w a shoulder injury. Hopefully, that outside shot will start to fall.
Ziebell started slow as she always does, but picked it up in qtrs. 2-4.
Bench scoring was better yet deceptive since Strong and Shade came off the bench.
