Providence Post Game Thread

I refuse to go over to the PC board(I only troll Rutgers). I am curious though what kind of stuff this Friar J clown posts on his own site.
Lookup August West. He stopped being a UConn at some point, but would have about how well he was treated on the PC board.

I used to frequent that board for years before it was subscriber only. That's back when they thought Tim Welsh was better than Calhoun and that they'd eventually catch and surpass our success. I'll lurk before or after a UConn game just for giggles and it's a much smaller, much douchier collection of posters. They have a very elitist view of themselves as basketball geniuses.

There are some people that didn't mind A-Dub over there and there were plenty who constantly gave him the "Go back to the Boneyard" stuff whenever he posted.

On their behalf, it's gotta be tough being the PC Jets of the Big East watching the UConn Patriots win in their backyard while their version of a great season is making it to Friday at the BE Tourney.

Wow, already 12 pages in this thread. I just got back from the AMP. I was seated first row above the tunnel behind PC's bench where the PC players entered and left. I don't know if you could see it on TV, but the PC players were visibly a combination of tired, dejected, and stunned after the final buzzer at regulation and they realized it was going to OT.

Whew what a game. The PC fans were dejected after that one and the Husky fans were leading the chants in the concourse after the game.
It goes back to the whole UConn vs Michigan, great taste/less filling debates on here. It doesn't matter how great your team is, there are going to be road games where things don't go as planned and the great team is not going to win in pristine fashion and beat the Vegas line. That is what this was for UConn. Find a way to grit out a win and get the hell out the AMP go back to home sweet home in Storrs and Gampel for the next game.

BTW, the loud fan that yelled "miss" that caused Sellers to miss the first FT in the 2nd half after Hurley got a technical- that was me 🙂
1. You don't know if yelling caused him to miss.
2. Anyway, not very good sportsmanship.

They had internet back when Tim was coach?

Why are people posting lying, deceitful Hurley rip jobs from troll accounts on the Boneyard? I don't think ignorance is any excuse. Less than 5 seconds of prior research proves this untrue.
I know, right? Lord knows that my volume of engagement is way down in recent months, but heaven forbid a sub-topic gets introduced for discussion on a message board. Look at it this way, if it wasn't posted, neither would the feel-good puppy story that followed.

Did you miss the first line that read, "I am questioning the validity of this post, to say the least."

If this turns out to be a turning point for Silas, it is way ahead of Newton's schedule. He struggled for most of his first year at UConn. Got hot toward the end of the season and rode that streak into the post season and the rest was history. I'm actually surprised Silas is doing so well so quickly. It is hard to run the Hurley/Murray offense. Glad we have him.
Agreed. I think newton didn’t break out till February IIRC

That one is complete BS too... Why should we have to read any of them if we don't have to?

Friar J. back from the dead, or at least back from self imposed exile. In your opinion, would you say Hurley is the best coach in college basketball? Would you say UConn is the best team in college basketball?
Yes, without a doubt, and I said the same on our board. Something to the effect that we just took the best coach and best team in the country to the limit and I still woke up pissed off.

That is our 3rd or 4th overtime loss and we lead the country in 1 possession losses, and last night wasn’t even one. That’s coaching. It’s a shame too as the guy really can recruit. We are in the final 4 for Caleb Holt even with our terrible record.

The team he has now has too much talent and costs too much to have the results you all have, OT losses or not. The defense PC plays is fairly atrocious (OK maybe mediocre is a better word). And though the individual offense is impressive, the team offense doesn't scream sophisticated. That's all coaching also.

That team would frustrate the hell out of me if I was a fan of them, because they have so much potential and the right pieces even.
