UConn travels to South Orange, NJ to play in the Walsh Gymnasium against Seton Hall, which seats just over 1,300 and built in 1941, so it should be a sellout. The Pirates are 11-6 and 3-3 in Big East play 3 games behind the Huskies. The BE wins, are all road games against Georgetown 57-49, Butler 64-50, and Xavier 61-47. While their losses were all at home against Providence 46-51, a team UConn just creamed winning by 44 points, Villanova 45-50, and Marquette 54-74. UConn has played 4 of the 6 teams winning them all by a 32.25 average. The Pirates SoS by Massey is 80th and rated 75th, UConn's SoS is #1 and is rated 6th. They average 59.8 points a game while allowing 54.4. They average 30.6 rebounds, 11.1 assists, 7.3 steals, 2.3 blocks, 13.6 turnovers, 42.1 FG%, 78.7 FT%, and have a 31.8 3pt%. Their best win was against UNLV, Massey rated #43 and worst loss was against Providence Massey rated #133. Offensively they are ranked 75th while defensively they are ranked 64th vs UConn being ranked 4th in offense and 6th in defense.

Seton Hall has 9 SR's, with 1 SO and 3 FR’s, so they do have somewhat of an experienced team. The starters for their last 5 Conference games excluding Xavier were Azana Baines F 6’1” SR who averages 31.2 min, 15.5 pts, 6.2 rbds and 1.5 stl. Micah Gray G 5’8” SO averages 30.8 mins, 14.1 pts, 2.6 rbds and 1.3 ast, A’Jah Davis F 6’1” SR averages 20.9 min, 6.1 pts, 6.1 rbd and 0.8 ast. Amari Wright G 5’9” SR averages 31.8 min, 5.2 pts, 3 rbds and 6.3 ast. The fifth starter has been switching the last 5 games between Kae Satterfield F 6’ SR, 2 games, averages 20.7 min, 8.1 pts, 2.8 rbds and 1.2 stl. Sha’Lynn Pinkney F 5’10” SR, 2 games, averages 11.0 min, 2 pts, 2.2 rbds, and 0.2 stl. Brazil Harvey-Carr F 6’1” 1 game, averages 10.8min, 4.2 pts, 2 rbds, 0.8 stl. The other 6 players have played in at least 9 games, with some playing in all 16 games. Over the last 6 Conference games UConn has averaged 89.5 pts while giving up 53.5 while the Pirates is averaging 54.5 pts and giving up 53.6 pts.

  • I don’t see UConn having any problems with the Red Storm, they will wear them down by the end of the 3rd qtr and get another conference win. UConn 92 – Seton Hall 40.
For those that are new to the game and others that have forgotten it is requested that discussions other than prognostications of the game should be posted on other threads that your discussion pertains to. The winner/s will be posted soon after the game’s completion.

UConn 89
Seton Hall 58
MOV 31

I'd like to see if UConn gets up by say 25 to 35 points early that Ines and Amari get some PT earlier than the 4th quarter!
It'll be good for them and our starters will get more rest so when we have to shorten the rotation vs SoCar and ND and maybe 1 or 2 others they'll have fresher legs!

UCONN 95 - SHU 46; MoV: 49

AE & ICE light it up in the paint, slashers & mid-range with KK & Ash are unstoppable, Nika and Paige continue the 3 pt onslaught with Q contributing as well. Tough D in the press ignites the offense, so Ines & Amari get in on the fun.

Everybody EATS! Go Huskies!

These picks are getting really hard as the Huskies continue to over perform relative to forcing turnovers and shooting a high percentage, particularly from 3. Over the last 10 games, since UConn went with their 4-guard lineup, their average margin of victory is just under 37 ppg. That margin often swings 5-8 pts +/- based on how many mop-up minutes Geno gives to the reserves.

Oh well, how about UConn 96 - Seton Hall 52.
