UConn plays their 12th game of the season against the #11 Iowa Hawkeyes in Champions Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. This will be the 10th time that these two teams have played, with UConn having a 6-3 record, two of those three losses were back in 1989 49-81 and 1990 41-58 when UConn was just on the brink of building its dynasty. The last loss was when the refs decided to call a foul on Edwards with less than 3 seconds left in the Final Four game on 04/05/24. Their largest MOV was an 86-48 win in Storrs on 03/17/02 and their smallest was an 86-79 win in Portland, OR where C. Clark was heard on an open mic telling her team “Can someone get that #10 off my back”. The Hawkeyes are currently 10-1 and rated #11 by Massey with a SoS of 25, offense is #12 and defense is #13. Their wins are against Massey rated #180 Southern University 86-51, #311 Evansville 119-43, #196 Drake 100-58, at #96 Northern Iowa 74-41, vs #19 Baylor 57-52, vs #59 Miami FL 64-61, #136 W. Illinois 86-69, #81 Fairfield 86-72, at #104 Rutgers 79-36, and #131 Lindenwood 102-68. Their only loss was at #6 Iowa State 69-74. Massey has them with an 18% chance of a win against UConn with the Huskies winning with a 75-64 score.
All predictions and any changes must be submitted by 12:45 PM Eastern. Any submitted after the cut-off will not be accepted. The game is on FOX.
The winner must be named, either UConn/Huskies or Iowa/Hawkeyes. No "85-55 the good guys", if there isn't a winning team stated in the prognostication it will not be counted. Once your prediction is posted If you wish to change your prognostication you must submit a new prediction by stating that you wish to change your previous prediction and provide the post number of the original post, NO changing of the original post. If the request for change is submitted prior to the scheduled closing of accepted predictions, you will receive a "like" letting you know that it was accepted and changed. If someone believes that they have been missed, or someone notices that another fellow prognosticator has been by the gamekeeper, then it must be brought to the gamekeeper's attention within 24 hours of the posting of the winner(s) game thread.
I believe that Massey is off base again with his wining score and UConn will be in control from the first tip. This game won’t be close due to UConn’s smothering defense and their controlled offense. UConn will play at least 9 players and if it’s a blowout then Geno may play everyone that’s available, with everyone who plays scoring. UConn 89 – Iowa 68.
