UConn has a scare in this game -literally and figuratively. As they enter the court they see the ECU pirate and think there is some sort of illegal activity going on. By the time they realize he is only the mascot, they are quite shaken. They recover by halftime after some time with therapy dog (Jonathon). The second half goes smoother and normality returns.

So we won last year against ECU, 90-45 and 91-44.

ECU has 228 offensive rebounds, or 16.3 per game. By contrast, we average 11.2. In part it is due to their horrendous shooting, 38.5% from the field overall and only 26% from three. Commit a lot of fouls, 346 or 24.7 per game (we average 13.4), and force a lot of turnovers, 324 or 23.1 per game (we force 17.7 per game). Stats indicate they play a sloppy, physical game.

RPI is 260 and strength of schedule an anemic 317 out of 349 teams. Yuck.

We will do a little better this year, 96-42. Let`s check the box and move on.

I see a lot of time for the reserves in the second half. While they hold there own, I don't see them extending the lead while they are in. 98 - 48 Huskies.

If my memory is correct, last year this was a very chippy game on ECU's part..............their play went way beyond simply being physical so I really am less concerned with the score then with all UConn players finishing the game unhurt....................

This could be tough. I don't believe ECU has any starters returning, they aren't very tall, and they don't shoot very well.

However, they are Pirates. And Pirates steal upon their prey with catlike tread. They will seek a penalty 50-fold. I really can't see how the Huskies can survive this.

Correct. And that's a dynamic you have to factor in when making prognostications for these conference games. UConn's scoring is pretty much going to bog down once the starters go to the bench.

Is this thread legit?!? I've yet to see my name listed on the leader board. Not even for being close on any of he past games. What's going on here? I keep seeing the same names at the top ?!? OK, I'll try again.................
