I'd have Ohio State ranked higher then 10th. They start off the season playing So Carolina in So Carolina and then play UConn at home. Don't be surprised if they win at least one of these games. I'd rank them in the 6-8th Range.
Even if they are #6, I expect them to lose both.

It's pre-season. Lots of proving to go on.

I think - I haven't checked - that Dayton lost a lot (due to graduation, not transfer). From a fairly thin cupboard when compared to many of the other teams.

I agree with those that think UNC could struggle. I also fear Maryland, Ohio State and Northwestern (and not only because they regularly can beat Rutgers, it seems) - the B1G historically seems to get no respect, but it ain't your old BTen. Impressive jobs by McGuff and McKeown with pre-season respect.
I like NB in the Big 10, and think they could surprise and finish 2nd.

Nebraska is typically tough, but didn't they lose two of their best players last year? I know Theriot will be back and they have the freshmen Jessica Shepherd (#3 Recruit) but she was out with an ACL tear last year, is she healthy?

If you had to bet... would you bet on Nebraska as #2 in the Big 10... or Pitt as #5 in the ACC ?

I do question UNC and Maryland - Maryland is really going to miss Brown and may be a little high, and UNC is going to miss their whole team and I don't think should be ranked at all. the others ... meh ... you can quibble about a few places but until the games begin in ernest it is just guess work. TN is a completely different team this year, will they all mesh and perform, Baylor is pretty dependent on freshman, ND without Jewel will be very different, etc.

I'm a little surprised Maryland got #6 in the polls. But the PG situation at Maryland is way overblown. We have two senior PGs. One was a starter as a freshman and made the ACC all freshman team. The other is a redshirt senior (2011 class) who was the Washington DC Metro player of the year as a junior. The Terps are set very well at the other 4 positions with a very strong frontcourt. The Terps are a Final 4 threat especially after Lexie Brown tanked in the Sweet 16 game against Duke last year.

Nice article on Maryland's 2016 recruiting class:

I wish the "talking suits" would wait till the 3rd or 4th week of the season to come out with their 1st poll!
A team they rank low but shows a lot early in the season has a very tough time to rise in the poll!
Early injuries can change a whole season for a team!

A&M could be a lot lot better than their ranking.
I'd put Baylor ahead of Tennessee (and SC/ND in all honesty), and Florida State should be ahead of Tennessee and Maryland IMO.

I agree. I think that with the addition of Alexis Jones and a couple of good post players that Baylor should be ahead of at least Tennessee and Notre Dame. UCONN is a given at number 1 and South Carolina has a lot of talent but lost a lot more than Baylor did from last season.

The only two freshmen that Baylor will really rely on are Brown and Mompremier in the post, and they will most likely be splitting time with Higgins and Cave, a senior and a junior.

Niya Johnson, Alexis Prince, Nina Davis, Kristy Wallace, Alexis Jones. All with elite 8 experience.

Hopefully the big freshmen will be ready to bring some help to the post game, which would otherwise consist of Higgins and Cave. I look for Higgins to be the starting center. Likely starters are Higgins (Sr.), Johnson (Sr.), Davis (Jr), Prince (Jr) and Jones (Jr). However, Wallace (Soph) may take the starting spot from Prince as report from practice are that she is looking REALLY good.

Agreed. Now if we can just get a 3rd team from the AAC to be ranked and get at least 2-3 more teams in the top 50...

How sad that the Big 12 only has 3 top 25 teams. And I don't see it getting much better over the next few years. It will be all about Baylor, Texas and OU. Too bad that TAMU had to ruin it by running off to the SEC a few years back. I hated them but also hated to see them go.

Brene will do great this her senior year.

You are incorrect about Brene being player of the year.

I'd go with Pitt as #5 in the ACC. In the Big Ten the Big Question is can OSU play any defense, or will they try to outscore everyone again (although they did a pretty good job of that last year, I don't think they'll be able to do it again).

You are correct. Brene made the first team on the Metro squad. (I think Kelsey Wolfe won that year). Brene did lead all the girls in scoring with a 26 ppg average. She also made the ACC All Freshman team. She looked good Saturday with 17 points 6 assist and only 1 turnover.
