yeah, you've got a good point there and I remember that one. My bar has been set so low for ACC games that I overlooked it! I agree that was an absolutely horrendous call. But there were parts that came. I remember thinking that they were getting it right. If we can get hosed only once badly during the Syracuse game, it will be an improvement lolWatch the Duke game again if you get the chance. There was clear interference on a pass to Buckman near the goal line with 5+ minutes left that the officials ate their whistle on. The ACC network guys called it a good no call but it was another obvious horsesh_t call. A TD there would have given Uconn the lead.
One area UCONN needs to exploit is Syracuse' horrific special teams. The team has been blocked kick U this year, I can not think of a worse special teams unit anywhere, ever. A couple of blocked punts or field goals can keep things close. They are a passing team as we see by the numbers they have put up. McCord has the most passing yards in a year at Syracuse. They have three main targets with Allen the rb catching 50 passes this year. They are dangerous and not sure UConn can get into a shootout with them.
The good guys can win if they can hold them under 27 or so. UConn needs to score some and create turnovers
I thought you needed a like. Opinions like yours (and mine) will not be popular on this board. Hope to high heavens I’m wrong, Lord I wish I was wrong, but I think your predictions are extremely optimistic. My apologies to everyone, but I think this is not going to be pretty one bit.Syracuse in Sothern Canada is just a bridge too far in my opinion. I’d say 35-21, 35-24 Something like that. We won’t get blown out but we aren’t at Syracuse’s level right now.
I agree, if we played Cuse in hoops now and probably in the foreseeable future it would be non-competitive. Honestly, UConn is oceans ahead of Cuse so the thought of playing you is not appealing and it does nothing for UConn’s brand. No insult intended. Just being honest.I am just glad we aren't playing you guys in hoops this year. It would not be close, it would not be pretty. I am getting nauseous just visualizing it.
There are no bad opinions here. You are an Analyst and this is what you are seeing. The Fan Boys may be upset but so what?I thought you needed a like. Nothing wrong with that. The way I look at is regardless of point spread, who would you put a dollar-to-dollar payout bet on? Clearly that is Syracuse. I think UConn can keep it competitive, with Fagnano, but will probably lose by two scores. I am not sure Evers will do much of anything. I really hope Mora starts Fagnano.I thought you needed a like. I swear I read somehwere the Cuse's ST is absolutely attrocious this year. The get kicks blocked all the time. The D on Cuse is beatable as long as the our Oline plays fundamentally sound.31-20 Naranjas
You worry about getting housed early and they'll be looking to come out aggressive. But we might keep this thing close for 3 quarters (with JF). I worry our OC will fall into that conservative trap in the second half and we have some crucial 3 and outs putting pressure on the D. 2nd and long has not been good for us this year and having the right or wrong answers may determine what happens with the offense. We're going to find out how far Sammis has progressed this year.
Defense is solid if they get a little rest. But we need to be disciplined on special teams and tackle well. I think the D gets us at least one turnover but this game can't be all on them. As always good blocking by the OL is a must. An extra week to recover may help them.
If we can’t pressure the QB effectively, the Cuse receivers are going to be a lot to handle.I predict the poster of this Tweet predicting a 20-34 loss for UConn will feel dumb when the game is over. No way our D gives up that many points. We may score 20 (I hope for more) but they WILL NOT score 34 points.
