Predicting that Uconn will crack the top 10

I say they move up to 15. Too early in the season to make a jump that high.

They are 17 in CBS Sportsline's poll. North Carolina jumped them after last night. UConn moved BACK.

Most of these pollsters look at Ken Pomeroy's ratings and Sagarin's ratings for guidance. Our strength of schedule has been suffering due to losses by Maryland, BC, etc and keeping us in the 12-18 range in computer rankings. As long as we stay undefeated, we'll move up. We belong in the top 10.

.-.
Memphis will drop after also OSU beat them last Tuesday .....I'm sticking to UCONN moving to 15.

.-.
I think 14-15 is about right. Duke just barely beat an unranked UVM team they should probably have rolled. I don't feel so badly about our squeakers over Maryland and BCU. Still, I don't think we are a top 10 team. If you just look at the wins, sure. But how we won is a different story. 14-15 sounds about right... for now.

Yeah I'd put us in the top 10-15 at this point. We're not blowing anybody out of the water, but we're winning. Which is more than I can say for a few teams ahead of us. Time will separate the contenders from the pretenders.

Memphis lost to a higher ranked Okla. St. team on its home court, so that might keep the Tigers ranked over us this week. But 15 is certainly possible and fine by me right now.

Rankings don't mean anything. If I remember correctly, we were ranked 19th at the start of the 2011 BE Tournament. That turned out great for us.

Cracking the top 10 this week seems a little high. #15 seems about right to me.

Although I definitely think this team has the potential to be ranked in the top 10 at some point this year, the pundits will need more big wins before we reach that point.

Uconn number 11 in NBC poll

1. Michigan State (6-0): The Spartans remained at the top of the rankings thanks to wins over Portland, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma. They should be fine as long as Tom Izzo doesn’t blow a gasket with the new foul rules.

2. Kansas (4-0): Kansas stayed No. 2 after wins over Towson and Iona this week. They’re at the Battle 4 Atlantis this week.

3. Kentucky (4-1): Like Kansas, Kentucky had another quiet week. They’ll get a good test against undefeated Providence at the Barclays Center on Sunday night.

4. Arizona (5-0): I love Arizona. They got the bump up from No. 6 thanks to their versatility. They can playbig, with Aaron Gordon at the two and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson at the three, or they can put Gordon at the four with Brandon Ashley at the five and three guards on the court. Also worth noting just how good Nick Johnson and Gabe York have been.

5. Oklahoma State (4-0): The Pokes look like the real deal after embarrassing Memphis. Marcus Smart is OK. They were No. 8 last week.

6. Ohio State (4-0): An uninspiring win over American won’t change my opinion of the Buckeyes all that much. I’m putting an APB out on LaQuinton Ross.

7. Duke (5-1): I dropped the Blue Devils from No. 5 this week because I’m getting really concerned about their ability to defend. Vermont dropped 90 on them and had a chance to win at the buzzer last night. East Carolina shredded them with dribble penetration. They don’t have a rim protector and they cannot keep anyone out of the lane. Rasheed Sulaimon belongs on the same APB as LaQuinton Ross.

8. Louisville (5-1): If you ask be why Louisville is ranked ahead of No. 15 North Carolina, you better be ready to tell me why Belmont is a top ten team. So don’t do it. That said, I think this group is going to figure out their issues — this was their first loss since the five-overtime game against Notre Dame, their season isn’t over — and I’m still not convinced North Carolina is truly as good as they were yesterday.

9. Syracuse (4-0): The Orange are still riding high on their preseason hype, but they really haven’t done much yet to back it up. They’re in Maui this week, so we’ll see if this top ten rankings is truly deserved.

10. Wisconsin (6-0): The Badgers keep rolling along. Frank Kaminsky popped off for 43 points as Wisconsin dropped 100 this week.

11. UConn (6-0)
12. Oregon (4-0)
13. Wichita State (4-0)
14. Gonzaga (4-0)

I know, it's Bleacher Report, but we jumped from 20 to 11 in their power ranking

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ower-rankings-week-3-the-top-25-teams/page/16

Previous Power Ranking: 20

Record: 6-0

Connecticut's PR team better start up the Shabazz Napier campaign for National Player of the Year. The odds are that a freshman, not a senior, wins the award this year, but it's looking like Napier will be in the discussion.

So far this season, UConn's point guard has a triple-double, a double-double, and he carried his team to win over Indiana on Saturday at Madison Square Garden with 27 points. The rest of his teammates failed to reach double-figures. Oh yeah, and he's shooting 62.5 percent from deep.

UConn hasn't had a guard play this well since Kemba Walker carried the team to a title in Napier's freshman season.

ESPN has us listed at #13 in the nation as of right now. The "Rankings" section isn't updated, but if you go to our schedule you will see we're #13. Memphis #21 and Florida #15.

That's a week old. Presumably he will have us in the top 25 when the new power rankings are issued this week.

Not quite a week old, they came out before this weekend, but he had UConn unranked.

13 is great! Hope these boys are ready to live up to it.
