I think the difference is you’re still hopeful that your chances have improved over the years.

You are really cutting players like Khamenia, Hines and Landrew short.

Landrew will be BE FOY. I bet Hurley has Khamenia studying the playbook already. As long as he has those three clicking by November, along with Ross, all will be good.
Theyre both potential first team All-Americans. Not knocking the other players. It’s a uniquely good backcourt.

What about the starting center from Villanova (Andersen). 6’10 but played more like a PF. Great option for PF/C combo.

Exactly. And let's not forget Karaban AVERAGED almost 35 MPG last season. In big games it was north of 39 minutes. It's a great opportunity for Khamenia to earn a ton of PT.

My new PF/C combo wish list even though he's probably too talented to want to land a backup spot: FAU's Devin Williams.

6'10 205 incoming redshirt junior who averaged 7.5p, 5.2r, 1.3a, 2.6b and hit 30.6% of his 3PAs (14-49). EvanMiya's numbers crunched him as FAU's second most efficient defender.

Williams started at the 5 at FAU, but played some lineups as a 4. You might remember him from his freshman season at UCLA.

A realistic target is SMU's Sam Walters. The 6'9 230 incoming senior has played sparingly at Alabama, Michigan and SMU (never averaged more than 13 mpg at any season), but has a career 38 3P%. He's a bad defender, though (what if Tyler Polley came

If we want to go a more physical route and get another "NEC guy happy for a role on a championship-caliber team" then I'd pick Saint Francis transfer Gestin Liberis. I've seen him live a few times and the 6'9 215 incoming senior is a classic bruiser, finished last year as SFU's #2 defender.

Anyone know about this kid. He’s a GT decommit. Played against our guy Colben Landrew this past high school season. Son of a NBA player.

Dontonio Wingfield? A name I haven't heard in a while ....
Yeah, that’s his son. Good size and length. Says he’s still available

Guess what? 20 years ago I wanted to sleep with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez at the same time. What does that have in common with Allen Graves going to UConn? Neither has a snowball's chance in hell of happening.
No, but both would last as long as a snowball in hell

Hey, not everybody follows this stuff as closely as some of us do. But if I didn't, I probably wouldn't start a thread making it that obvious.

I think a reasonable goal is someone a bit more playable against good competition than Koroma.
Probably someone that has more PF skillset in Hurley system. Koroma was more of a Center with his skillset. Even though he wasn't tall he was more of an undersized C than a PF. I would think we are looking for someone who is more of PF and could play Center if needed. Meaning he could have some skills on the outside as well as being big. Just not a polished product obviously but more upside thank Koroma.

True that. I try to typically stay pretty positive with most of my posts, but something about the traditional PF obsession on the board lately really grinds my gears!!!

Edit: (I’m ok it doesn’t get under my skin THATT bad)

We aren't saying we need a traditional PF. Just someone who can play it with more size than we have who can match up better with other teams bigs at the 4. Kamenia, Ross and Landrew are just not really big to play a college 4. All are smaller than Karaban and he was a little undersized.

I like Williams-mentioned him a few weeks ago. Still holding out for another guy. We'll see how the chips fall. All good.

Khamenia is the same size as Karaban. Same height and he said he was up to 230 pounds preseason last year

He doesn't have the length as Karaban which makes a big difference and I watched the game and they weren't the same playing weight in the semifinals. Karban listed weight was 230 to 215 for Kamenia. Kamenia has better lateral quickness but Karaban length helps him out against bigger players which Kamenia doesn't have. Karaban average around 1 block per game in his 4 season. Kamenia only averaged .1 block per game. Also, Karaban was a Sr. while Kamenia will only be a So.

You know there are guys that are 6'8" or taller with good muscle that don't play a traditional 4? Milan Momcilovic as one. If we could have some as long and big as Karaban I would be fine but Kamenia is more of 3 trying to play the 4 as not as long as big Karaban.

What about momcilovic? He is a big wing that barely averaged 3 rebs in 30mpg. Nik and Landrew are better suited to play the 4 than him

That’s right. In fact the dreams of gifts were the best gifts you might get.
The toy is long gone, but the dream still lives.
