Potential Clingan trade news

This has the Rockets giving up Şengün, Jalen Green, and Thompson, along with picks? Doesn't feel worth it if I'm the Rockets, as good as Giannis is. Green has got to go, and Şengün doesn't work with Giannis. Amen's defense was unreal in that series, and he was very good on offense. Seems to me the keeper. If you're already parting with your two nominal best players and a boatload of picks, I think you can throw in a different asset. Otherwise, how is Giannis in that much better of a situation? (Not Milwaukee's problem, I get, but still.)

That's not trade news, that's utter speculation; nothing but a trade suggestion by one of the hundreds of journalists, podcasters etc. who play with trade proposals every day.

That's why I threw potential in the subject line.

They won’t trade Amen. I think they would do most everything else to get Giannis, and I wouldn’t blame them.

Surround Amen and Giannis with shooters and that team would be incredible.

I think when everybody clicked on this, they assumed that Clingan was actually rumored to be in a potential deal. This is SI "reporting" that an Athletic article put together a plausible 3-way deal involving Clingan.

There was a long article on the Rockets the other day and it said that Amen was the ONLY untouchable player on the roster. Now, there's always a price. But this ain't it.

NBA is a business. Donovan did a great job this year of establishing his future NBA value. NBA execs have seen his impact on a game defensively. They want that on their team. How desperate are the Blazers to cash in their chips on DC in exchange for what they get in return?? One thing is for sure- The GM making the decision to move DC on (if true)-is putting his job on the line if it doesn't work out.

Hard to believe that they would stay with the incompetent Ayton over Donovan.
Yeah, it was clear to me the Blazers were playing their best ball when DC and Time Lord were trading minutes. I wonder Ayton is untradable.

It would make a lot more sense for Portland to move Ayton seeing as he wants an extension and they’re hesitant. Contract is up after next year. That’s why they drafted DC.

Why would they even consider extending Ayton for more than a second? What am I missing @aceboon?

Portland has been eyeing Clingan since HS. There’s an article the GM is quoted in talking about it.

Would be beyond surprised, especially since Ayton probably has significant demand as well…

No doubt the blazers will try to trade Ayton this summer (along with Grant, Simons and Timelord); there are a couple of teams that could use his size. Whether they can get enough back to make it worthwhile is the question. He's an expiring contract making $35m. Lakers?

Barring an unexpected trade for a superstar, Clingan will be with Portland next year, they love him.

Ayton is more than likely to be moved than being extended. with the Lakers in need of bigs wouldn't be surprised to see them kick the tires there.

Seems the SI writer that made this spent too much time on the trade machine website and also too much time in the liquor cabinet

Rockets just got a 2 seed with a core of mostly players that are 25 and under

If the Bucks offered them Giannis for Sengun/Green/Thompson/picks, Houston would laugh in their face and hang up the phone

Their new core would be Giannis, Fred Van Vleet, and Dillon Brooks??? LMAOOOO
