Now I don't feel sorry for their loss.
I never feel sorry for their loss. We deserve to win and they deserve to lose. And if they don’t like it.... Well, I don’t feel sorry for them.

BTW - I LOVE the Nike ball! When Paige shoots it and it hits the back of the rim, it goes 7 ft straight up, then comes straight back down through the hoop - nuthin’ but net!!

Moving on from “ballgate”, when asked about Paige, I thought she gave as high a compliment that a woman who has an award named after her could say-
"She's a player," South Carolina coach Dawn Staley said of Bueckers after the game. "She makes big shots when her number is called, time and time again."

To me, Dawn was spot on. :)

Dawn definitely comes off as a whiner after losing this game by complaining about the ball in her first statement of the presser and then repeating it in a completely unrelated question Overall though she has a valid point the ball could be and perhaps should be standardize for the entire NCAA. The NCAA might even be able to get an endorsement deal out of it- Wilson the official ball of the NCAA.

Very little credit to UConn.

Had to wait to the last question about Paige. Paige is a player, when her number is called, she makes big shots. What she did not say is just how smart she is and everything else she does and her defense. She looks pretty depressed and probably thinks with 4 years of Azzi and Paige, they are going to start beating us again like a drum (irregardless of the good recruiting classes)
Did Dawn say whether she thought we'd be beating her crew like a Pearl drum or a Ludwig? It makes a difference you know. Also, any mention if snot will be involved? It's a whole different level of beating if stuff is coming out of noses.

If schools are able to pick which ball they use,
AFAIK this has always been the case. Different schools can use different balls. I think there was some article about this (in the men's game) a couple years ago.

UConn why do you have us dribbling with a flat ball? Did you'll learn that from New England. Well it work. We had zero fast break points. :) This is not the first time Dawn mentioned something about the ball. I don't remember who it was but I knew Cooke was having issues with it. Had to be a road team so we won that game regardless.

Unbelievable!!! You blame the ball for a loss.

Sorry Dawn. That just doesn't cut it. You are the coach and you should know what ball is being used. And you said you need less dribbling and get the ball into the post more. That's on you Dawn. You are the coach. Take care of business.

I was never impressed that Dawn was a great coach. A good coach - yes. Not great, not even close. That was a pitiful interview. Can't even give the opposition any credit. Sour grapes for sure.

BTW - there was an article posted on the board that quoted Dawn as saying we don't need to bring our A game to beat UConn. Was someone a little overconfident?

LOL Nothing new here, move along

for some It's the ball,
for some it's the Banners
for some it's just the air of greatness that once graced the courts of Gampel Pavillion..

They can all find an excuse if they look hard enough.. :)

I cringed when she said that. Because there is no excuse for all those turnovers. They should have been practicing with a NIKE ball leading up to the game. I will say I was yelling at the TV because Henderson was moving and leaving the ball behind on occasions. Hopefully she made the statement to protect her backcourt from the media. I am curious how many SEC schools use a NIKE ball.
