Post Game Thread - Thank You, Alex, Tarris, and Malachi

Disappointed with the result, but this team played their hearts out. I have never been more proud as a UConn fan.

Mainly hurts because Michigan really left the door open for us with how poorly they shot, but felt like we weren’t allowed to play our game and take advantage. We needed to hit a few more shots for sure, but also overcoming half your starters being in early foul trouble on questionable calls in a championship game is really tough.

So proud of this team though. I’ll admit I doubted them with the way they headed into the tournament. But I’ll never do that with a Dan Hurley team again.

Edit - also, to the one Michigan fan at Murphy’s in Cromwell. I hope someone gave you the beating you were basically begging for. Absolute scumbag

Cam was a trash talker. Cadeau is a snake. Big difference.
I don’t think we can talk about Cadeau’s foul baiting like we didn’t watch both Kemba and Shabazz carry us to a championship with that skill.

I will really miss these two warriors. Great players and incredible people.

Part of the sadness of being a fan is that the players you grow so attached to move on and their families move along with them. I had a long talk with Tarris Reed's dad about the coaching he's received and how much his game has developed and how much he's developed as a man. Amazing guy. Mrs. Demary and her family delayed going over to the stadium tonight because she went back into the hotel and back up to her room to get us swag she promised us yesterday.

Everything about this program from the players, their families, former players, coaches, well-heeled donors who support the program with incredible amounts of money and their time and effort blow me away.

AK gave us everything for more than 4 years and he's an integral part of the greatest run in program history. He will be sorely missed.

My issue is Cadeau is also sneaky borderline dirty in how he plays. Some of the two handed shoves he gave our guys tonight were egregious and I can’t believe not a single one got called.

That's fantastic. How did you get such access to the players and their families?

Through my lifelong friends. They've made many connections over the years with the program. This is the first time I've really gotten to experience it all and my appreciation for the program is even higher than I thought possible.

Some cool things are happening behind the scenes and we will see some people brought back into the family. Got to talk to Boat, Polley, and Oriakhi.

2014 team never truly got enough credit and that will change.

Hes not good enough to enter the draft, as is, so he's probably thinking about the portal. He is from North Carolina. Im just speculating
I hope Silas comes back next year. He gutted out an ankle injury that normally would've kept someone out for 3 weeks. I know the title game wasn't what he wanted, but getting him was a home run and a huge success for this team. He was first team all Big East and was on the first all transfer team according to many publications. I think he will be even better next year if he returns.

It was an ugly game. The refs made it a 5 against 8 game which didn't make it fair. Having Demary out there more and not taking anything from Smith would of been big. Unfortunately he got some cheap fouls called against him. Mullins looked like Freshman out there in the first half. Their length really bothered us and Cadeau was able to get in the lane too much. Smith played great and Karaban gave it his all. Reed was bother a lot by Mara's size. It was nice to see Ball play good on offense in this game. Having him and Demary out for most of the second part of the first half really hurt us and changed the game. I wish the Refs couldn't control the game as much as they did allowing them 28 shots at the FT line. i have faith in Hurley that we will be back soon to the final four. Go UConn!!!!

Accomplished so many things needed to win - rebounding edge, Mich poor shooting, controlling pace. Ultimately, we didn't have enough shotmaking, credit to Mich for some of that, and the refs for keeping our best players off the floor for key stretches.

We had absolutely every opportunity to win this one. Michigan was a wagon, and man we gave them one heck of a battle.

What a season. Can’t wait for November already.

Hey, let's enjoy the summer first 😉

Congrats to a damn good Michigan team, they were even quicker than I thought.
Could not feel any better about this UConn team after a loss than I did this morning. They played determined and gritty and set the tone for a majority of the game, shots didn't fall in the second half.

I woke up this morning numb and bummed. I can't imagine how AK and the team feels after giving their all. Big moments were the hook and hold in first half and the five point swing on missed layup/dunk followed by three-point shot for Michigan. A few made shots could have turned the tide. I'm proud of the way the team gutted it out as it easily could have been much worse as prognosticators predicted prior to game. Good luck to the players and Luke who are moving on. The team will be much different next year but too early to think about that.

I saw this replay and assumed that since it was stopped and reviewed that it would at least be our ball as it was pretty damn clear that solo was shoved.

That hook and hold was less obvious as Johnson was holding Alex just as much as alex was holding him.
Yeah, Johnson was just as responsible for the arms being interlocked, and a reverse angle replay showed that his elbow was buried pretty heavily into Alex’s back, and not necessarily being held down. Given the amount of acting this Michigan team does (and fairly obviously so), why would anyone give Johnson the benefit of the doubt and assume Alex Karaban of all people would commit a flagrant foul?
