I'm not sure I understand why any fan of the program (or the school) wouldn't be in favor of this. One of the best things the school can do is increase its presence in the Boston media market. The 2024 regionals was a great first step. The Fenway Bowl was a nice little touch.

This could be very beneficial. We claim NYC as Storrs South with our presence at MSG. If we can make a reasonable claim to Boston being Storrs North, we would be far more attractive to any all sports conference looking to improve media revenues.

Which makes me wonder... Doesn't BYU require a 2-year mission? What's going on with that?

Only members go on missions and
LDS membership is not required to be a student at BYU . But you are required to adhere to the rules of behavior
Non LDS students are also required to get a letter of recommendation from an ecclesiastical leader of their denomination
Probably because behavioral expectations are not typical and that want kids able to deal with it.
Why you ask would a non LDS want to go there . According to non LDS attendees

It’s has some excellent programs especially in life sciences according to a pre med major
A degree from their carries significant prestige

Word came out this week from the Boston Globe that the UConn men, who are not playing in a multiteam event next season (keeping Dan Hurley on the mainland) were exploring a game vs. BYU at TD Garden in Boston. Most on social media seemed to like the idea, some didn’t. AD David Benedict explained on his X account:

“We’re replacing games that most couldn’t attend for local or regional locations and getting paid,” Benedict said. “These are neutral-site games, not home-and-homes, more fans, better financially. We’re going to continue to do what we can to remain relevant. (My emphasis). XL and Gampel games will be balanced. … We’re exchanging (multiteam events). Promoters have been driving scheduling and receiving the lion’s share of the money. No more.”

Anytime UConn can expand its footprint from New York to Boston, it’s a good thing. Huskies fans travel. <-

The proof will be an elite OOC game each season in XL and Gampel. Then some mix of MSG, Barkley’s and TD are fine.
If scheduling is so easy, why did we drop the ball so poorly on the quality of XL’s schedule and abscence of XL weekend games.
