Team has been a bucket of meh so far tonight. Sorta looks like all the guys have shot a vein full of meth before tipoff(slow down dudes).

But if there is one thing we KNOW, its that Kenyan Facey can board the ball. He's been everywhere ripping the ball away from dudes

If Brimah makes the jump we're hoping for, then rebounding and dunks is all UConn will really need from Facey.
Exactly. That's all we've been realistically expecting from the 4 since DD declared

.-.
Did anybody else notice his first rebound in the opening minute or so? I'm not sure I've ever seen a rebounder cover as much ground laterally to get to a spot between 2 defenders to snatch the O board. It was amazing. Kid has quite a nose for the ball. Really excited about his potential.

Happy with Facey but the second half showed the overall defense we can play. Positives were also Samuel as a guy who can drive it inside because no Rodney. DHam didn't look comfortable on O which is to be expected first game but he contributed. Give Bryant credit for making shots and running good offense, they are not stiffs.

Stanley Robinson like.

He picked his help defense in the 2nd half and he will get better with more pt.

It's definitely not surprising that he'd struggle a bit with that. Overall, Facey was more than fine - there's a lot to build on there.

he's ridiculously athletic and absolutely soars for boards... that pick and roll defense though... ouch

Yea it definitely got better in the 2nd half, he earned KO's trust a bit there when things were tight in the 2nd half.

Best thing aside from the 11 rebounds is only 2 fouls. Really good sign.

Pick and roll defense is something you learn the more and more you play in game action. If Facey gives us what he did tonight every night with improving defense game by game I would be extremely satisfied with that.

I was having flashes of Marcus White out there today. Really like/happy for Facey. Fishy had it. We can build on that.

how many times last year did we get 39 boards? even vs cup cakes. Hamilton and facey clean the glass

Kentan Facey being a monster rebounder is no surprise. Even half the sick people on the Boneyard knew that last year in his limited minutes.

Was at the game, I don't know if you can really appreciate how high he's grabbing the ball on those boards. He's getting it at its apex.

(Edit: on TV that is, not you personally)

Facey has very little PT under his belt but is clearly getting a lot this season. Learning to play help defense and gaining confidence in his offense simply takes time. I'm pleased where he is right now, and expect his to improve steadily as the season goes on. One thing is for sure, we all seem to love the energy at which he plays.

This. The kid played very little last year and he picked it up in the 2nd half and will get better with more experience. Im extremely impressed by him and can envision him playing the 5 when brimah is on the pine. Nolan needs to step his game up because his minutes are going to shrink the better Facey gets and we have every reason to believe he`ll only improve with more pt.

Quite frankly, from a coach's perspective it was good to see that energy and his quickness to the ball. I still would like to see him work himself more to the weak side in preparation for a rebound opportunity because that's where most rebounds go.
