Poor fan showing at Gampel

Bring back The Field House. Yes, we didn't win as much but the fans were passionate and loyal and loud Things have gotten too marketing and profit driven with UConn basketball lately.last night was an embarrassing display both on the court and in the stands in front of a national audience.
  1. We will never play all our games at XL/Peoples.
  2. We will never play all our games at Gampel.
  3. We will never, ever, ever change it to where the students sit along the sidelines moving the donors back.
  4. We know. You're the only one in your section that stands and cheers all game long, getting told by old people to sit down.
  5. We know. The students were better when you were there. It's not even close.
  6. We know. You never leave early. And everyone should stay to the end regardless if they're going to sit 45 minutes in a parking garage followed by an hour ride home on a weeknight.

Hurley admitted that he felt like “an idiot” and that the fans were awesome last night. He also said the defense at times is so bad that it kills the crowd a lot.

The “stand up Gampel” chants need to be used sparingly and in the right moments, but there is no doubt that it was getting people to stand and get louder last night. I’d rather see it used as we’re coming out of a timeout or something than in the middle of trying to run offense though

My first Gampel visit in a while
So it’s your fault! 😀

Here’s a thought. Maybe Dan Hurley should worry less about the people in the stands and more about the players on the floor. It is pretty obvious that they are not getting it done. Struggled to get the ball in play, struggle and now lose to glorified mid-majors, clanged something like 11/12 shots, can’t shoot fouls, commit fouls by the bucketful. Maybe spend less time counting seats and teaching fans to do the wave and more teaching your team to play defense. Just a suggestion.

called out the crowd killing plays too whether giving up a bucket or a foul call. Someone's on here and passing info along to him 😂

No doubt he saw this coming. Perhaps he was blaming the fans to try to take some pressure off the players. Personally, I think there is more going on below the surface with this team. When you start seeing social media comments by parents and friends, then you know there is more going on than meets the eye. It is hard to believe that the talent level has declined over the season as much as it has. I don't think that is ther reason.

Who do you really root for?

The "stand up Gampel" should never be said again. We all support the team, we're loud, we travel, we try to encourage them when things aren't going well, the students should do the same. Pretending we're the problem is as silly as it gets, just juvenile behavior

And I'll be standing up at MSG too, trying to bring home a BET Title. Representing like I've been doing for 40 years, including the dark ages

PS: Me and my buddies actually started the "bye bye Perno" chant in Dom's last home game. Everyone around us kept telling us "do it gain, do it again, so we did". Hence I take credit for bringing JC to town. 😇

He was being a jerk and his team has been struggling against awful completion. We just lost to a team that was.500, with 1-9 record against Q1teams. Oh and we gave up 91 points. I think maybe he needs to focus on what is happening on the floor rather than in the seats.

I cannot believe Danny let a troll like Ed Cooley get to him. Cooley probably figured Danny was hot after a narrow win against this Georgetown team and he tweaked him, successfully. You should definitely think twice or thrice before going to the podium and conveying anecdotes from Ed Cooley when you’re agitated.

By the way, the attendance at the Cap One Arena for the Georgetown/Butler game last night was 4,456 with a capacity of 20,356 (22% full).

Maybe someone should point that out to Ed.

So actually it is Georgetown that should play in The Fieldhouse. Have seen the sparse crowds at GTown in other BE games. Looks real bad and Cooley was on our fans. Cripes. And GTown did play in The Fieldhouse back in the late 70s. I think we had John Thomas at center and maybe Jeff Carr. IIRC we won.

Again since over 40% of seats were unavailable when seat selection started - how do we know donations were paid on these seats?
I do know that I got moved....when I walk past my old seats, some of the same people are sitting in their old seats....and those seats were not available when the sale went live......I personally think the school went to a certain group of donors and let them lock-in their seats before the public onsale/deal with Seat Geek.........bottom line the whole thing stinks.....still not sure how they haven't been sued for the "forever seats" debacle.
