I do think that, over time, the "Game Day Conor" schtick along with the flaming UCONN letters along with the "Y'all ready for this??" 80's music intro, etc, etc. It all gets a little routine and maybe stale? But that's everywhere. Patriots games with the "Crazy Train" and "Welcome to the Jungle".

Every venue has it's template which probably works just fine if it's your one game of the year or you're a little kid. When you see 12-14 games a year for 5-10 years and most of it stays the same? It surely loses it's pop.

We need another "Guru." He was at Uconn in the mid 80s and led the student chants at soccer, football, basketball games. "U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi. You ugly, you ugly, yo momma says you ugly." He was more concerned about getting the students amped up than getting on TV.

I have no issues with Gameday Connor but he only gets the fans loud during timeouts.

While I agree with you about concessions pricing (they're absurd just about everywhere today) I'd like to know where you found "crappy tickets" for the Georgetown game being offered at $350-500 (for two you seem to have indicated).

I check prices on Seat Geek now and then and late Saturday afternoon I happened to check the Georgetown game. What I found were several hundred tickets available, from the lower bowl sidelines to upper endzones and there were tickets available from $48 in the upper level, including chair back seats, to $250 or so in the lower bowl.

Overall, the highest prices were less than $300 per ticket in the lower bowl and as low as $48 in the uppers. And don't forget, those people selling any of those seats paid a "seat license" as well as the ticket price.

Go to Seat Geek and look at the Creighton game prices. The prices are similar to those for sale for the Georgetown game on Saturday. About 20 available in the lower bowl at $96 to less than $180. Second level? Probably 200 available at under $100.

Maybe you were just using hyperbole, but that doesn't add value to an honest discussion about why there were empty seats.
What makes the most sense about the number of empty seats are the "special" day and a mediocre opponent.

Finally, with so little media revenue we have to find financial support wherever we can, so let's all hope we get invited to join a league with serious media contracts soon.

I did put in 2 seats that I thought were like $170 for both tickets and then when I priced it it was over $300. I can’t remember exactly though, but there were two seats together not individual seats and it was several days before the game so maybe they went down?

It’s not hyperbole as it’s been in that price range other times. Maybe it was the Providence game where it was in that range over $300 one time I had three or four of us. It was $600 and I’m like you’ve got to be kidding me!

Some people on the site might not get the point that I’m getting to… some do… it’s not a UConn issue per se, but cost to attend sporting events is getting ridiculous along with some other things that used to be relatively attainable. It may have to do with your age. Maybe you weren’t around actively buying things 10 to 20 years ago but for those of us that were boy things have changed!

It is kind of funny how many times the team gives up a dagger right after the crowd gets going. Not just this season either.

It is difficult for the crowd. The games seem to follow the same script. Start slow, maybe, the get a lead. Then commit a bone headed foul 35 feet from the hoop. The coach does a line change and leaves maybe one reliable shooter on the floor. The other team catches up. First team back in, (except someone with 2 ridiculous fouls), stagnate for a few minutes more, then get an uncomfortable lead going into the half. Fans worn out by that point and scratching their heads with WTF was that in their heads. Rinse and repeat the second half. Fans waiting for something bad to happen. Squeek out a narrow win. I believe that is part of the reason why there is a disconnect between the fans and the game. Plus, we are spoiled.

Some people counted the available vs unavailable seats in various sections and it was consistent with the eye test before even 1 seat was selected as part of the fan seat selection process. The UConn / SeatGeeks deal needs to be understood better by the Casual Fan who thinks it’s the season ticket holder doing it.

The crowd wants to see some athleticism and some dunks once in a while. Ross is the only guy that can deliver. The loudest the crowd got this season were some of his dunks in a second half spurt a few weeks ago.

My first Gampel visit in a while and I saw the fans trying to will their way into the game despite watching a team that couldn’t get a stop. This team can’t sustain good basketball for a period of time so you can’t blame the fans. It’s not the fans fault i can tell you that after this game.

Best roar may have been at Hops44 pregame when the US hockey team scored in OT.

The lower bowl acts like it’s painful to stand during a game and that’s just never going to change. You can see they take the first opportunity possible to sit right back down every time.
