My feelings are conflicted on this---my personal belief is Lou will sit back and support the team and Napheesa in their scoring--if those others find scoring difficult--she'll once again put on her DT clone outfit and take over the scoring---she has the DT gene--but the California girl mentality--. I cannot think of a kid on this UConn starting 6 I don't love and hope the best for---I too have great hopes for the bench and respect the work they put in for Uconn's successes..My money's on Lou, though it could go either way. As UConn moves into the Sweet Sixteen and beyond, Pheesa may be needed to do more work underneath, and she is (alas!) more foul prone and may get more bench time.
And they're both hanging in at over 20 ppg. For a program that has had only three players average over 20 points per game in its history, having two in one season is pretty cool.Updated points scored by Sophomores at UConn
503 - Shea Ralph, Kara Wolters
533 - Bria Hartley
540- Tina Charles
564 - D. Taurasi, S. Abrosimova
596 - Nykesha Sales
656 - Kerry Bascom
670 - Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis
688 - Napheesa Collier
709 - Katie Lou Samuelson
754 - Maya Moore
777 - Breanna Stewart
Katie Lou needs four more games averaging 17 points each to tie Breanna's Sophomore scoring mark (which came in a 40-game season). Together, Katie Lou and Napheesa have scored 46.85% of the team's points this season. Truly impressive Sophomore leap for both of these amazing players.
