... they routinely miss foul shots, make sloppy passes, don't protect the ball, blow layups or putbacks when unguarded, or are careless or unfocused.

Luckily, the Huskies don't tick me off often. And when they do the above things, the team is so good it still wins the game about 90% of the time. As a fan of this incredibly successful team, I am happy!

But that doesn't mean I ignore the failures that occur during games. It's not all about winning: How they win is important too. When they do the stuff the ticks me off, it is frustrating. I yell at the TV, pound on the arm of my chair. And can say they played poorly despite a win, regardless of the completion.

For this year's team -- or any team I root for -- missed gimmies and free throws infuriate me. Nobody's going to convert 100%, but nearly 90% should expected on unguarded layups. Free throw shooters should practice tirelessly if they can't exceed 65%. Make the damn foul shots.

UConn has had shooting droughts. That's frustrating and they worry me but are expected. Shooting from distance or when tightly guarded or having an "off" night can cause that. They have played sloppy, but not so often it can't be overcome. Their defense can be astounding. So, great team -- but it can withstand critical comments.

My comments on team behavior is," C'mon Ash " or " Jana ,how could you not make it ,"Or Azzi , what's with that shot " .It's part of the game and with Uconn's winning record, I can put up with the little that they don't do. The naysayers should cut Uconn a little slack and tone down the rhetoric and up the praises. GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!

OMG, I would LOVE to watch a game with you Paco 'cause I'm the same way. I suspect others in the room might be less pleased with the curmudgeonly out pouring.

It's especially annoying when watching my beloved Celtics. "$300 MILLION NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE A COUPLE @#*×! FREE THROWS?!?!" 🤣

WNBA teams score 40 to 45% of all their baskets made on layups. WNBA teams that out score their opponents on layups, have a higher shooting percentage, and win the turnover battle win 93% of the time. So, you are definitely on to something there. If you add in out rebounding your opponent and out score them at the free throw line, the win percentage is 98%.

Stands to reason of course. But the crazy thing about this is you do not need to have a team of superstars to be good at all these things, it's simply hard work, focus, and having a high basketball IQ.

Players only tick me off when they don't give effort. That doesn't happen at UConn.
Accept that there have been a number of people suggesting that we occasionally get out hustled by other teams - doesn't that involve effort. Also, it is quite clear that Geno pulls players for lack of effort at times.

As a true-blue Husky fan, I will always watch the entire game even if we are up by 30 at halftime. But lately, some of the games have really been so boring when they do not play well and the opposition is too bad to take advantage. About this I don't blame the players because having to get up for a game against DePaul or Xavier is not motivation to go out and play with abandon. At the Butler game I left after three quarters because not sitting in the parking garage for half an hour was better than the last ten minutes of the game. I have no doubt that we will be at our best come tournament time when the players will be ready to begin the NC journey.

Given my non-participation, non-ownership... given that I'm not, in any way, an actual stake-holder... given that being a spectator gives me no rights at all... I try to be wary of thinking otherwise. Any disappointment, any anger even, is just people far away living in my head rent-free. That UConn basketball is so amazing and that I get to watch them play because of TV and the internet, I just gotta be thrilled! Thank you, UConn!

When we’re watching games on the Telly, the most common things we roar are “Keep the ball high, Jana,” and “Just go up with it, Serah!” More common are the high pitched cheers for Allie Threeball and Kayleigh, and for Jana when she gets a putback and for Serah when she comes all the way out to midcourt on the press. Both of us really love those four. We love them all, of course, but especially those guys.

Players who don't give effort don't get into games, at all. He pulls players for making dumb plays and not being effective.

When Jana misses a free throw, I fume. I admit it.

When Ash travels is another one.

Moving screen on Jana.

Serah Williams misses a layup.

I hate when we telegraph it and force it into the post.

The performance standards get pretty bad when people "move up" to the WNBA. For a couple of seasons 6/5 seasons ago I tried to brain wash myself into liking the game. But I couldn't. So I'm a total Pollyanna about our kids and their play.

I've become a more avid follower of the WNBA , as the players have just gotten better and better. Almost any game involves very talented players, who I love watching play the game at the highest level in the world. MOV stats certainly make it clear that there are many very competitive games. Minnesota had the greatest MOV last season, at about 9 points. Conn. , at the other end, was -10. Teams 3-8 MOV's ranged from 1-4 points. Sure there are blowouts, but lots more chance of tight games in the 4th quarter. That's what I enjoy watching anymore. On the other hand, I didn't even watch the 2nd half of the Providence game. A sacrilege I know.

I generally don't let players tick me off because I'd rather laugh at their mistakes.
