Nneeka Ogwumike......32 points, 15 rebounds vs Oregon.
Watch out for the Cardinal this year!

Oregon lost to Denver by 24 points earlier this season. Nneka is a great, great player, and she had a command performance against Tennessee, but I don't see those numbers against Oregon being measurably more impressive than EDD's output agaist Towson.
Griner is going to win the AP NPOY. Nneka might win the Wade trophy given the criteria of that award.
...in a close game over a team that lost to North Texas. Not to beat a dead horse, but Nneeka had 33 points and 16 bounds today............
No to be a smart ass but I don't see any of our girls putting up those kind of numbers against some of the cupcakes we play....in a close game over a team that lost to North Texas.
I don't think anyone is arguing that any UConn player is in the running for NPOY this year.No to be a smart ass but I don't see any of our girls putting up those kind of numbers against some of the cupcakes we play.
If she and Griner remain in close contention, a possible Baylor-Stanford match-up in the future just might be decisive.i would vote for Nneka. She is putting up impressive numbers.

I still say it's a travesty if Griner doesn't win. Nobody completely changes the game the way she does.
There's a part of me that's inclined to agree. But when I see the numbers that EDD is putting up, I have to wonder. Gun to the head so to speak, yeah I'd have to go with Griner. But, not having seen EDD, I just don't know. I'm going to see Delaware play Northeastern in a week, so I'll have more of an opinion after that.+1
Totally agree.

Nneka's no slouch either, and like the other two she's having a year like few have ever had, but I feel like I've seen enough of her and Griner to give a clear not do BG for the reason you mention.
so, being 6'8" and swatting balls changes the game. She does not have the same offensive skills set as Nneka or EDD. She gets POY for being tall? ugh
There have been other 6'8" players. (Remember Alyssa Dehahn at Michigan St. or that kid at Liberty in the early 00s? Probably not, because neither was that good.) None of them has been remotely as dominant defensively as Griner. She completely controls the middle, and a team has to completely adjust to account for her.
EDD is not super strong or quick. But she has some nice spin and up-and-under moves. She also shoots 92% on FTs. They are different, but both Elena and Nneka are very, very good. I'd like to have both on my team.EDD has more weapons with her 3 pt shot, but I haven't seen her make the moves and leaps as Nneka, and of course EDD and Nneka don't have Griner's height.

The offensive moves she makes and SKYing for rebounds, snatching the ball with one hand, are jaw dropping.
I was at the game when Nneka got this one. The crowd just went "wow!"
