Obviously would have much rathered played UNC/MSU/Bama, but seems like we'll get one of the latter 2 in Round 2 at least.

Really strong first game against a likely top 25 team. Outside of playing the likely #1 team UNC this was the best option. From Jon Rothstein:

18. Oregon

Projected Starting 5:
G
Will Richardson
G Jermaine Couisnard
F Quincy Guerrier
F Kel’el Ware
C N’Faly Dante

Projected Bench: Nate Bittle, Kel’el Ware, Rivaldo Soares, Lok Wur, Tyrone Williams, Keeshawn Barthelemy

Key Losses: Eric Williams, Jacob Young, Franck Kepnang, Isaac Johnson, De’Vion Harmon

Key Newcomers: Tyrone Williams (JUCO), Kel’el Ware, Keeshawn Barthelemy (Colorado), Jermaine Couisnard (South Carolina)

Ware looks like a monster. Kinda surprised Muss didn’t bag him

Outside of UNC this was the best case scenario.. You know we weren't going to get Villanova but Alabama would have been a nice fit too. Oh well it is what it is, do we have dates on these games yet?

You play 3 games on the 24, 25, and 27 of November so:

UConn v. Oregon Nov 24
UConn v. MSU / Bama Nov 25
UConn v. UNC / Nova / ISU / Portland Nov 27

Love this bracket. Despite the intrigue, UNC might have been a case of "too much, too soon."

Portland and Iowa State w/out Tyrese Hunter would have been "meh". Top 20 Oregon followed by MSU or 'Bama seems "just right."

Would've liked an easier first game to get into the winner's bracket side easier. Don't like the "away" nature of it.

certainly gives us the opportunity to rack up the 3 best wins of the tourney: 1) Oregon; 2) MSU/Bama; 3) UNC/Nova but damn we don't wanna lose the first game and wind up in the losers bracket against Portland St and ISU...

8PM EST start time. Thank God it's not the 10PM or 10:30PM start time. Our guys would be sleep walking for that. We might catch MSU/Bama being extra tired...hopefully they play 5 overtimes until 2AM

Yes as stated agreed with the latter, but your first point is also very true. It's possibly a great path, just like with Atlantis, but certainly a gauntlet. At least our 2nd game is guaranteed to be good too with MSU/Bama being 2 good teams.

Note the first game is on Thanksgiving day. 8pm is not quite the best time slot (I'm guessing 5:30 is the top slot on T-Day), but it's a good one.

They're playing in Oregon so even the late games are only starting at 7:30 local time. 8 pm is a nice East coast time for when Thanksgiving is winding down though

Very brutal first game, but a win would put us in the national spotlight. That Oregon team is filled to the brim with top 50 bigs, they’ll be great if they get anything from their perimeter guys.

i love this draw. opportunity to play 3 top 25 teams. i see a lot of complaining on twitter particularly around us playing oregon 5 years ago but not sure why people care about that. different players and a different coaching staff for uconn.

Antoine Anderson had 10 points in a game where UConn beat Oregon in Oregon. Just saying.

Great opportunity here. Unfortunate that this will be a neutral game on our resume when it will play as a true road game. However, we will find out a lot about the toughness of our team. Can’t wait!

For those that like brackets

West coast so bound to be some late EST times, but damn. Championship game at 10PM eastern on a Sunday night? I guess they don't want to run against the NFL but still...

I'd rather start with an easier matchup like Iowa State then a big showdown after with UNC but this works for me too. Hoping not to play michigan state back to back years
