per Andy Katz's twitter.

Not sure why either side wants to continue this relationship...for another decade...yeesh. I'm thinking Pitt becomes the next BC in the ACC in short time.

Nah...I think they'll become the ACCs new Pitt.

Which might be worse for Pitt fans.

Charles Barkley: "Wow. They lost didn't they? If they had won, they might have signed him through 2050"

I like Charles Barkley's comment when he heard it. "He lost didn't he? Wow they might have offered him til 2050 if he won."

Great line by Charles. What choice did Pitt have? Pitt and ND are stuck in the same spot...they figure they can't get a coach better than they have, so they are resigned to giving good, but not great coaches 10 year deals.

As per Pittsburgh's press release:

"I'm thrilled to announce that I have signed a long term extension at Pittsburgh. I love it here and I can think of nothing better than staying and hanging many many more "Round of 64" banners at the Pete."

PITT....were mediocrity is rewarded.

I just scanned the PITT board. It's probably 80% positive towards resigning Dixon, Hilarious. It just shows how much the expectations differ between one program and another.

Barkley's comment was hilarious. Every once in a while he drops a gold nugget in there. That was funny.

I actually like Dixon - seems like a good sort and I like the idea of Pitt having to pay him a bazillion dollars if they ever want to fire him.

It's also a nice little show of leverage....with USC open and UCLA seemingly on the way there, Dixon parlayed an ass-kicking by a mid-major into a decade extension. Pitt seems to realize that if Dixon leaves, ain't no one better coming along to settle in their rusty little city.

And the world of bizzarro continues in the college basketball ranks. Another coach being rewarded for mediocrity!
