It took over 160 posts before the first song by the Beatles or one of the individuals in the group. Maybe as Scud said there are just so many great songs that it is hard to pick one. It was late 1963 shortly after the Kennedy assassination when I first heard this. It cheered me up then and still brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it. I’m sure a few of you can still name the 5 songs that they sang on their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.Speaking of George Harrison and the Beatles, there are so many songs of theirs I love, and this one is way up there:
Long, Long Time
Not PP & M's most beautiful song, and they had so many, but an icon of the political awakening of many people in the Viet Nam War era. If I Had A Hammer.
Jethro Tull
Probably my fav road drivin' song by Jethro Tull:
You guys are going to hate me, but I saw these guys 3x. I especially remember when they premiered this album, when they premeired, "Nothing Is Easy", and when they premiered "For A Thousand Mothers".
Joni Mitchell, Jaco Pastorius, and a young Pat Metheny on tour in 1979 - the song is "Coyote" probably my all time fav Joni tune:
This is another topical song, from Steppenwolf. As with many of theirs, really clever lyrics.
I love this song by Elvin Bishop- yes, "Fooled Around and Fell in Love"
This is the song you wanted to dance to in HS 10 min with the lights down low![]()
And from Jeff Airplane
Not PP & M's most beautiful song, and they had so many, but an icon of the political awakening of many people in the Viet Nam War era. If I Had A Hammer.
