Pick a second team to root for

Maybe another DI team or possibly a D2/3 or JUCO? I root for Elon as my youngest son went there and went to all the games as a member of the pep band. Lots of excitement for the team for a while.

I might have to start rooting for one of the lesser known Florida teams, maybe FAMU?

Duke then Cuse as my youngest daughter went to Syracuse. Only going with Duke because I want Kara to do well.

Picked Iowa St. as a team I would like to see UCONN play. Only negative I can see is the crazy antics of dad Joens. Other wise a team I can root for.

I like Corie Close from UCLA..would like to see her teams compete with Stanford.
A few years back when UCLA was on the east coast..Close asked Geno is she and her assistant could sit in on a practice and observe some of the things that UCONN does and expect from the team. She is someone who wants to learn and absorb all that might be available to her...not like some coaches who think they know everything about coaching...just my opinion.

University of Houston (UofH or UH) because I’m a UH alumni (go coogs!)

Green Bay (UW-Green Bay) because I used to live in Wisconsin and they were the UConn of the Horizon league (and mid majors) for quite some time

Texas (UT) because I wanted them to beat Baylor for a while (oh well lol) and became a fan in the early 2010s

There are a few others I’ll also happily watch or cheer for when they’re not playing one of the teams listed above (Stanford, Duke, Rice, etc.)

Illinois because that's my alma mater. Rooting for a consistent loser balances my
rooting for a consistent winner.

I found myself watching/rooting for these teams last season (in addition to the Irish):

• Indiana U. I like what Teri Moren has done. Once Ali Patberg joined (what seems like 7 years ago!), I started following them regularly. Like Grace Berger and Mackenzie Holmes a bunch.
• Iowa. Initially similar to IU. Liked Lisa Bluder and how she maximized everyone on her roster. Allegiance was tested when Caitlin Clark chose to go there rather than the Dome, but CC looks happy and Iowa's happily gunning away.

Two ND-related schools of interest:

• Marquette. Megan Duffy. Enjoy her coaching. (...just in case...)
• St. John's. My dad did grad work there and I followed the great Chris Mullin/Mark Jackson teams. Women-wise, will root for the "Dani" ND transfers: Patterson and Cosgrove. Both good people.

UNLV - My oldest granddaughter went there (Class of 2019), and was one of several team managers. They treated her well, and she enjoyed the experience. Her biggest thrill was going with the team on a Mountain West Conference road trip to Hawaii (her first time). She worked the NBA summer league (at the Thomas & Mack Arena/Cox Pavilion) all 4 years, and made some nice "pocket money." She and her father will be working it again this year (Aug 8-17).

My wife and I went to many, many UNLV women's games during those 4 years. Got to meet the coaches and all of the players. ALWAYS enjoyed those road trips. We visited every 4-6 weeks year round until she graduated. Always spent more money in the grocery stores and restaurants (on her) than in the casinos. So much to do in Las Vegas. Vegas is a lot different during the week than on the weekend. Saw lots of great shows. I got to know my way around the city pretty good.

We also attended several Aces games when they were in season. That's where I ran into Brianna Stewart (and took a picture with her) and Alysha Clark the day before their game with the Aces. Stewie was very nice and cordial. It was the Aces inaugural game in Las Vegas. Those were some very good times.

Penn State because several of my relatives are there....Oh wait, i may have named that place backwards. Actually, U of Maine Orono as i grew up in Maine,(or was supposed to),and i just can't help myself from rooting for the more brainiac schools such as Stanford, Northwestern, Duke etc. I have great respect for kids who are both athletically inclined and excel in the classroom as well.

Also lived in Wi. for a number of years, about 5 miles north east of Boulder Jctn. Wisconsin remains my favorite place where I've lived. Small sample of states, born and lived in Il. stayed there for 50+ years then Wi. I could take the cold but our winters were almost 6 months, too darn long. Now Ga. were it's too hot, I do root for Univ. of Wi. in certain sports against certain teams.
