Legitimate question, why is he starting over Primal Brimah? Im assuming Nolan dominates in practices but in games they both struggle at 2 rpg each.

Can you seriously not think of any answers yourself? Let me see, uhm, he has a year of experience over Brimah and knows the system a little better. We have only played 3 games thus, that experience advantage has warranted starts for Nolan so far. Things may change, who knows. Brimah probably deserves to start now but Ollie may like having him come off the bench.

But seriously dude, how much basketball have you played? It only takes a few quick seconds of analyzing the situation to come up with some potential answers. But none of us are in Ollie's head. You post things that are just stupid. And they are stupid because most people can answer these types of questions themselves before having to ask others for their opinion.

And same goes for your remarks/statements. Many of us have all kinds of thoughts when watching Uconn games. It doesn't mean you have to post every thought that comes to your head. This is a social basketball forum. But that doesn't mean you we are here to vent and release every thought or emotion that is Uconn related. Save it for your psychologist.

This is why people are calling you a troll if your having trouble understanding. Social skills don't just apply to the "real" world but they apply to the internet world also.

If we've learned anything the past few years, it's that the five best players aren't necessarily the one's that start. And I've liked what I've seen from Phil this season - I'd prefer a little more from him on the glass, but he's been surprisingly effective in the limited post opportunities he's had. Granted, it's been against weak opponents, but he's made some real nice power moves down there and I'd like to see him get more touches, especially in blow outs.

Brimah also sprints up and down the floor like a wild man. He'd be a risk to tire himself out at this point with too many minutes - figuring the jostling in the low post is more than he's used to as well. He's very effective at changing the game with a surge of energy off the bench right now.

Good insight, this is what a forum should invoke.

Because it's working maybe? Phil is fine, needs to rebound the ball better w/o a doubt but he's played some solid D, moving his feet a little better as of late and can still be a nice player. I wish he would start boxing people out because if he doesn't he will be continually bodied off the ball by larger stronger players. But I like the passion coming off the bench we have in Giff, Brimah and Kromah amongst others. Leave it alone!

Calhoun liked to bring an explosive player off the bench to provide a spark and keep the production from dropping off, I think Ollie is doing the same with brimah. When he's in the energy level of both the team and the crowd goes up

Even though it's fun to second guess the coaches as fans, I have to say that I love the way Kevin utilizes his team and gets so much out of role players. You could argue that some starters/stars have not produced what was expected, but the great thing is other good role players have picked up the slack where necessary and closed out the games. Brimah, olander, Kromah, Giffey, etc. have just given us some great minutes off the bench that other teams aren't getting against us. I like what Kevin is doing and I think he is much more patient and organized about it than the HOF coach he replaced. The team is responding in a great way to his methods. No need to second guess who starts. Let's just enjoy the ride!

my posting threads based off a thought

Hence the issue.

Who wants to see posts based on someone's every thought. After awhile thoughts become 'brain farts'.

Its okay to keep some thoughts to oneself, any shrink will tell you it diminishes self importance.

Success has come from Phil starting. Don't fix something that isn't broken. Brimah brings great energy off the bench.

Hilton Armstrong started as a freshman. That may sound good, but remember, he was a completely different player then than he was a freshman. Sometimes you sort of need some big energy guy to come off the bench a la Vinny Johnson.

Season is young. PN is stronger than AB. He also sets himself better to get a pass on the interior and can create better than Brimah although if AB gets that hook shot down, they will have to double team him to prevent him taking the shot. I want both to develop. It's not a contest as far as I'm concerned, so who starts, who finishes and gets the most playing time is irrelevant. We need them both.

I really like the way KO is playing them to allow them to develop.

If DD (it seems unlikely) leaves after this season, that could leave us with Nolan and Brimah both starting. That would be one hell of a 1-2 knockout punch in the paint.

I'd forgotten that, he'd start and then be out before the under 16 timeout, never to return.

I think it was Shamon Tooles the first three games, then Mike Hayes for a while, then finally Hilton as the start and then disappear guy during the 02-03 season.

You're probably right, but I've gotta say I have no memory of Mike Hayes ever starting a game.

Kind of a funny thing with the number 25 - it seems to be popular among players who don't take to the court much if at all. The Calhoun/Ollie-era 25 crew consists of Ace Watanasurparp, Mike Hayes, Michael Bradley, Tor Watts, Rob Garrison, and (I think) Craig Glazer - that's about all I can remember.
