Remember where we are people when throwing out names. A president of a state university from a liberal New England state is not hiring a coach with that kind of baggage, never mind a woman president

If we had the security of being in the ACC, then we could act just like Wake Forrest and Duke. We don't have that security. If we want to swim in these waters, then we better learn how to be a shark. If we don't want to swim in these waters, then we should join the CAA or the MAC and play New Hampshire and UMass. Just the facts.

Here's a decent list outside of Petrino:

Chad Morris (at Clemson he makes $1.3M as their OC. Lost out on the Texas Tech job to Kliff Kingsbury)
Kirby Smart (at Alabama he makes $1.28M as their DC- the highest paid Coordinator in the game right now.)
Gene Chizek (he's doing XM Radio now)
Mike Belotti (he's doing ESPN now)
Derek Dooley (frm. Tennessee HC- did bad there, but kind of got a bad deal. Young and has potential.)
Rod Carey (from Northern Illinois- the dude makes $500K there.)

THE KICKER HERE: We pay PP $1.6 M to stand on the sidelines and then repeat the same BS to the media he says after every loss. Talk about a waste of our tax-payer dollars?

I am fairly certain he has been through rehab, if not, I wonder if Emily noonan rides a motorcycle.

That is the cold hard truth. We must do something to show the college sports world that football is a priority for us. We have a lot of ground to make up and nothing says "winning" quite like Bobby Petrino. Talk about catapulting ourselves back into the national picture.

For those that poo poo this type of suggestion, do you realize the situation we are in? We can't get into the ACC, B12 and B10 because we don't bring football chops, period. The perception of our football program is now costing us 15-20 million dollars per year. Bobby Petrino is worth it. Keep a tight leash on him, teach him the importance of restoring his image and UConn football's image and enjoy the ride back. We need him, he needs us. Perfect fit.

In the public's eye, Petrino is guilty of having consensual sex with an adult not his spouse. I could care less whether or not my football coach sleeps around. In reality, Petrino's pathway to a high level job is limited by the fact that the guy who will have to make the hire -- the AD -- knows Petrino will lie to him and sell him out at a moment's notice. I have no problem looking at Petrino, but Warde would be sort of foolish to do so from his perspective, and I have no reason to think he will be that desperate.

Chizek's coaching talent is his ability to get donors to give Cam Newton an under the table payment. If he were good at doing that with other players, it might be something, but clearly he even sucks at that since he got no studs post-Newton and couldn't do anything with the kids he had. I've seen that movie before.

Why would someone from Bama, or even Clemson, want to come to a northern non-P5 school when they surely could land something better?

this list is a good start. I LOVE Smart but I don't see him leaving Alabama for UConn- he's going to get an SEC job (Missouri?)

Petrino would be amazing. I've led a group of about 20 or so of students on campus since last year who want Petrino. This would show us a serious investment in football. Having a league with Tuberville, Petrino, O'Leary, June Jones is a pretty good league. UConn has the resources to be big time in football. We made the decision 10 years ago to be big time in football, the question is do we have the right administration to be big time football. We need more UConn people in our administration who are in it for their love of UConn and UConn athletics and not their own self interests. A UConn first person hires a guy like Petrino because they see the benefit. A non UConn guy hires PP and lets him do his thing while trying to polish their resume for an Ivy League school.

Good group except for Dooley and Chizik. He is a train wreck of a head coach. Just has the pedigree. I'd add David Cutcliffe. Turning Duke around is no small feat. Don't know that he'd leave though. Kirby Smart would be a home run, but chances are he'll have bigger and better opportunities when the time comes.

one other thing sorry- I like Chizik as a coordinator but NO WAY as a HC. He's not a good coach. Got Cam to Auburn illegally and has been living off that since. AU realized that pretty quickly and got rid of him.

I'm not sure anyone from a BCS team would leave their current job to coach....us.

He is paid with Athletic department revenues. Not tax dollars. The only reason I point this out is because I get sick of hearing certain people complain about the amount of tax dollars being spent on the basketball coaches.

Ivy League schools care about winning too. That leaves PP out.

UConn would be writing a check for $1.2 m to WKU to buy out Petrino's contract. He's only making $850,000 this season so he might entertain offers but keep in mind his history of jumping ship (Louisville, Falcons) before proclaiming him as the savior.

Pay it and put a much larger buyout in his contract. We need the money anyway.

That's right. No one is saying he'd be here for the long haul. He'd jump at the first opportunity. Yet, Cincy seems to be doing quite well with short term coaches who substantially upgrade the program each year. Cincy is clearly committed to advancing their football program forward. They've been lucky - they've not been Kragthorped or Greg Robinsoned - but so far they've managed to keep the program on an upward trajectory changing coaches every three years, and they took kind of a flyer this time on Tommy Tuberville. Cincy is willing to take those kinds of risks, and so far, so good. Chances are they'll be in the B12 in a couple of years. Where will we be?

Where do I sign? This just about sums it up. Bye-Bye P, hello Petrino. Do it now, there's still two weeks the Maryland game.
