Does anyone know what the status of Ayanna's shoulder is? I saw somewhere that there was an update, but I didn't get a chance to read it and now I can't find it.

She was still in a sling at First Night. At that time, Geno basically said, "well, she is still in a sling", but didn't elaborate any further nor have I heard anything else.

At BE media day yesterday, Geno discussed the walking wounded. Azzi is working her way back to a full practice and hopefully will return to the lineup shortly. Beyond that, none of Geno’s updates on Yanna, Caroline or Aubrey sounded like their return to availability was imminent.

Specifically in regards to Yanna, Geno refers to her having “banged her shoulder.” While that doesn’t sound very serious, the fact that Yanna has been in a sling for a few weeks or so leads me to believe that she’s dealing with a shoulder separation or dislocation.

At media day Geno said that Yanna is "on hold", what ever that means.

The shoulder is a poorly designed joint. There are many things that can happen when someone "bangs" it.

So while it's discouraging to know that she's been in a sling for a couple of weeks, at least we haven't heard that she needs (or has had) surgery.

Things can happens without contact too. Suffered a dislocation myself just going up for a rebound with no one around me while in highschool. Poorly designed joint, is putting it mildly if you ask me. ;)

I finally got surgery (not fun, to put it mildly) when my worse one was popping out in my sleep.

I've designed a lot of stuff, some brilliant, some downright embarrassing, none as bad as a shoulder joint. :p

Has anyone heard of, or seen anything related to Ayanna's recovery?

I checked the Storrs Central channel on YouTube for any pregame media availability for Sunday's game to see if there are any updates. No videos have been posted.
FWIW the YT Storrs Central channel has been renamed to The UConn Daily channel.

Golly you poorly designed people are hard to please. The range of motion of the arm, which I suspect you find useful, gives us all sorts of opportunities to injure the shoulder. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ah BB, you made my day (or evening). I've had 5 shoulder surgeries over the past 25 years or so- softball injuries, biking accidents - so now I feel so much better - it was just a piss poor design all along...! Thank ya :):)

There’s a scrimmage tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll find something out
I believe that you mean an exhibition game, not a scrimmage. Two completely different types of game.

Still in the sling. Geno’s expectations are that Azzi will be ready to go prior to Patterson.

Seems like more than just a ’bang’ on the shoulder. After all the knee injuries, this has to be gut wrenching for her.
