I refuse to click on the article just out of spite for the man. I don't believe he has ever written a single intelligent thing about college basketball. If I remember correctly, he spends half of his columns writing about his favorite restaurants in various college towns and then throws in a thought about said town's basketball team...no thanks, I really don't care where ESPN pays you to eat.

As a Uconn fan, i think that was a little too over the top. I think it was uncalled for when he was basically calling out Susan Herbst. What does everyone think? Will we get the waiver or not?

He's a Louisville bucket boy.

He refers to the Cardinals as 'we'.

I like Pat Forde, I don't really understand why he's quite this upset.

So let me get this straight.......Mr. Forde so intelligently states, "There should be no bargaining to avoid those penalties, no switching the rules when the results aren’t in your favor." Isn't that precisely what the NCAA is trying to do? Swith the rules after the fact. People, Mr. Forde included, need to remember one thing and not misrepresent the fact that UConn has indeed paid the existing penalty with the loss of 2 scholarships. The NCAA tournament ban is something new, ex post facto!

Hey Pat Fored as Calhoun would say, "GET SOME FACTS AND COME BACK AND SEE ME." You are a complete f*ucking disgrace to sports writers. Your piece of s*hit article only shows your strong hatred towards UConn and your own personal agenda to publicly rip UConn whenever possible.

Why not provide the facts that UConn has already been punished for their poor APR scores with loss of scholarships, or that none of the current players on the team contributed to the APR scores which could keep them out of the NCAA tournmanet next year. Or the fact that they have near perfect scores the past 3 semesters.

I don't understand why I continue to read any of his articles, but I will guarantee you this will be the last time I read anything from this clown.

"The worst thing is academic malfeasance. When athletes learn nothing away from the court, it corrupts the academic mission of the schools – the very reason for their existence.
Making a mockery of education while in pursuit of athletic glory should have consequences. And now it does, in the form of the APR and its penalties for underachievers."

Clearly he has no idea what the APR actually measures if he thinks it really measures whether players are getting a real education. UConn should have done a better job of going along with this BS, but that's it. Regardless, putting in a rule like this without some sort of grace period is ridiculous.

I stopped after the first couple paragraphs...wasn't really worth my time and energy. I will say this: the APR is a joke. I'm not an expert, but the fact that kids like Stanley who come just short of getting their degree are penalized more than a one and done is a joke. If Forde thinks this statistic actually measures anything useful I don't know what to say.

What's up with that picture of Herbst? It looks like she's moving in to strangle somebody. I like it, hopefully that's Emmert she's going for.

Don't read Pat Forde but there is a perception that Uconn is trying to get around the NCAA penalty after the Drummond recruitment. If this were some other team, Uconn fans would be screaming about it. IMO, the Uconn arguement is weak and the NCAA will reject it. We really need to get our act together and stop blaming the press and the NCAA for enforcing its own rules.

They're not enforcing their own rules. They're creating a new rule and enforcing it retroactively, which is also punishing us for the same crime twice.

How bad did we need that NC last year? Without it, the focus on this university would be how it is becoming the UNLV of the East. The drama this program goes through these days is amazing. Think about this year.

The Drummond signing/Bradley schollie situation which raises plenty of eyebrows

Calhoun sitting out 3 games for Nate Miles

Ryan Boatright and his NCAA issues

Calhoun taking health time for a third year running

The current APR saga

The disappointment of this preseason top 4 team

Toss in some good BE realignment and oala'

All in one year - anything missed?

Surely not all on the program and university but it's become a drama magnet and better than watching a months worth of Days of Our Lives. Thank god for Sandusky.

You seem to mixing apples and oranges. Far from "becoming" UNLV, the real story this year is our movement towards repairing the damage done by Hathaway.

UConn basketball is taking NCAA heat so that the Florida State, Alabama, Florida and USC's of college football can be spared.

Exactly. I'd be interested to know if UConn included such an argument (i.e. being stripped of schollies as conviction #1) in their report, and consequently, giving the media access to that as well. I'm sure they did, but the media is simply ignoring it. There is nothing worse than one-sided reporting.

Should there have been more attention paid to academic progress in previous years? Yes. Did UConn get punished for this malfeasance? Yes. Have corrections been made? I would assume so.

For all the people that think Gottlieb is out to get us, try to find one positive thing this has ever said about UConn.

I even think back to the Williams Price fiasco as the start of the craziness.

2006 team loss
all new team in 2007 :(
Nate Miles expelled and investigation during the tourney :(
Final Four :)
2009-2010 year
NC Championship and Kemba :)
Drummond commits
this year's team :(
APR announcement looming :(

Being a uconn fan is like being in one of those crazy relationships with a crazy person, who is really sexy and crazy, and it's great, then it really blows, and you start going crazy yourself because the highs are really really high and the lows drive you insane.

I'm having flashbacks.

Pat Forde would lick between Pitino's toes if he asked him to - I wouldn't really sweat anything he has to say.

Good way of looking at it - I mean, if you want to go back, let's toss in a little laptop gate to spice things up. That one trademarked the good ol' Uconnvicts signature that the other guys love throwing out there.
