I've heard very little defense of GDL on this board. Maybe Carl early on but not much since. As for HCPP, the best criticism against him is that he doesn't recognize how bad GDL is. The other, which we have seen time and time again is that he is not a good clock management guy which is really disappointing. I still think the defense was damn good today. They gave
up one TD drive the entire game and held Rutgers to two field goals when given bad field position due to TO's.

It looks like the Big East is bifurcated this year far more than normal. There are three teams up top (Louisville, Rutgers and Cincinnati) and then the rest, including us, is pretty
much crap. This team still has as good a chance as any to beat the other four crap teams starting next week.

So what you are saying is that the big boy conferences will poach Rutgers, L'Ville & Cincy and leave the rest for the Colonial Athletic Conference. Great!

6) hired Don Brown and has a top defense.

His only failure is to have a poor offensive coordinator and an offense that is averaging 3 points in Big East play. That's a mighty big failure ... but potentially remediable.

Time management is definitely a failing grade and that all falls on PP. If he isn't willing to get rid of DeLeone at the end of the year then I think PP should go as well. As someone else said in another thread, I almost hope he does stick up for DeLeone and gets canned as a result. Sad commentary.

That's reasonable. DeLeone needs to go - not for failing, but for not giving the team an opportunity to fail or succeed through their own abilities. I wonder if P would feel cut off at the knees with the loss of his right hand man, and unable to give his best.

I agree and to be honest I doubt we beat Syracuse or Pitt... Let's not forget how many yards and numbers Syracuse put up against good teams this year USC and NW... that's where the 2 losses came from and they still put up big numbers against them... I think we only win 2 more games here on out! SMH

I AGREE.

These guys have seen the players, and worked with them for two years now. 18 games. This offense clearly, is not skilled enough, and not mean enough, on offense, to be running plays were the blocking is such that if one person fails, the entire play fails.

I have seen TOO many plays, that have gone for losses, because a FB, a TE, WR, a C, an OG, or an OT blows a bloc, while the other 8 or 9 are doing their job.

You find the two or three best blockers on your team, and you put the ball in somebody's hands behind them, and you simplify.

Our passing game is improving, greatly - as long as the QB doesn't have to force the ball, we look great passing, (except when our all world TE is wide open in the middle of the field and stops running his route, and gets overthrown - on a first down play-action pass no less - we don't get too many of those to take advantage of...you'd think you'd know your job)

Oh f(ck it.

we're 3-3 and will be in a fight for a spot in the toilet bowl, and if P wants to keep his job, he better be looking for replacements for George, and he better be finding somebody that can recruit for the offense while he's at it.
 
It seemed like RU had a pass rusher coming in unblocked off the edge 75% of the time in the second half. Deleone should be relieved of his O-line duties this week. We went all day without getting pressure on the QB. They were running at Whitmer untouched. 2nd level blocking on running plays is not up to par and killing the running game. PP has to address this. His clock management is indefensible. He needs to be grilled by the press on this because it is embarassing and an injustice to his team.

Dan, we can't change the coaching staff midseason. Let it play out. I'll be surprised and very pleased if we get to 6 wins. Regardless of wins, DeLeone needs to go and P gets time to decide if he can coach without him. But the offense has to aim for 500 yards a game, and a coordinator who can build a passing offense has to be hired.

I talked to a former player who now works in the HR field about P's buyout #...he told me that P is owed ONLY $750,000 if fired this year...$600,000 next year...then $400,000. The buyout numbers are not added together...they decrease over the term of the contract! Seems pretty straight forward to me...$750,000 this season or $600,000 next year...I say Manuel will cover the $150,000 difference in attendance alone for next season! As for both coordinator jobs and the assistants...they are on 1 yr deals...they can be let go with zero buyout!!!! At a minimum the ENTIRE O staff needs to be shown the door!

I hear ya FDNY but I had two labor attorneys render dissenting opinions on the same question) (imagine that - sorry Biz). Not sure what the spirit and intent of the language really is. Either way - the cash needs to be found for the buy-out as well as the new salaries which will probably need a boost. We need a sugar daddy.

The thing is that PP lucked out in landing Brown (DB did not want to work for Edsall and liked the idea of returning to New England) while the offensive coordinator was part of the plan all along.

$1MM buyout if the University waits until 1/1. Pasqualoni is due $1.7MM if he stays on, and I suspect a MAC coach or a coordinator can be hired for about $1MM, so the net cost of firing Pasqualoni is about $300k. Peanuts compared to the lost ticket sales and loss of exposure from what will likely be a 3 win year next year.

Call them out. Some don't think he should be fired after two years, but all agree he has sucked go date.
 
the buyout is chump change to this school and state at this point. the $$ # is not and should not be a factor at all. if its even a question then its a sad day for this school.

If I read the contract correctly (and admittantly, can be wrong as I don't play a lawyer in real life) - the buyout is on the athletic department and NOT the State. No state funds are used for PP's salary.
