FSU & Clemson have always pushed for stronger football teams & Louisville fit the bill especially if you look at their record & investment since Jurich became AD. Since 1997 Uof L has won 160 games, been to 16 bowls &only had 3 losing seasons. They have state of art facilities along with the willingness to spend to compete with the big dogs
Yup, and they are willing to push the envelope on certain things as well. Bringing Bobby Petrino back when no other P5 school would touch him surprised me. He's a good coach, but his resume was tarnished a bit with his motorcycle ride. I though if he came back to a P5 school, it would take longer than it did.
I'm not disagreeing with you. But, I thought BC became territorial and blocked UConn because they wanted to be "New England's School."
My guess is that if Tobacco Road wanted UConn, BC and Syracuse couldn't stop it. They may have wanted to be the New England school, but they had no leverage. BC threatens to leave if UConn is admitted, Tobacco Road says

FSU and Clemson leaving has much more leverage than BC does. BC may have gone along with what FSU and Clemson were saying, but the power lies with the football schools.
I know this isn't a popular opinion here, but the ACC made the right call. It stopped Big12 expansion and secured themselves as a power conference. UConn may have made them more money, especially with the ACCN coming in a couple of years, but taking you all couldn't have stopped Big12 expansion like taking UL did.
