Pan-American Games

USA has scored 4 points in the six minutes of the 4th Qtr. Fortunately they only trail 55-54.

USA players on the Floor and on the Bench have no life. Puerto Rico getting all the lose balls on the floor.

Spanish announcers make even the most boring game/match sound exciting

USA has the ball 11 seconds to play up 61 - 59. Have to get the ball in bounds and make FT's.
USA makes 1 of 2 FT's lead 62-59 with 10 seconds left. USA also only made 1 of 2 FT's at their last trip to the line.

USA Wins 62-59. Play Brazil tomorrow for the Gold Medal. Ugly/Gutsy Win for Team USA.

Brazil has a few former WNBA players and they have 6’6” Stephanie Soares who chose D2.

Will be fun!

First Place Game on ESPN3 (at least) at 10 PM. I would think ESPNU carries it with American announcers.

That's the case with the bronze medal game between Puerto Rico and Colombia, now winding down. Puerto Rico is clearly the better team. It's too bad Argentina had the uniform fiasco because I'm fairly certain they would've beaten Colombia in group play.

Puerto Rico has two players that US audiences might be familiar with. Jazmon Gwathmey was a star for James Madison and went 14th overall in the 2016 draft. Jennifer O'Neill played at Kentucky and was Sixth Player of the Year in both 2014 and 2015.

Ali Gibson from Oregon St. too. She was in the class ahead of Weisner, Hamblin and Hunter; she also played a role in helping Rueck get things turned around there.

Duke has a player on the roster. Recent Graduate Sofia Roma. She didnt play much for Duke....... probably not playing much for Puerto Rico either.

USA trails at the half 39-38. USA playing better then last night, but too many missed layups and no outside shooting. Brazil is an experienced team with former WNBA players and other professionals. USA last won the Gold Medal 12 Years ago.

Suzy Merchant Head Coach, should do something with her hair. ;)

I see we can stream it in Spanish, but why isn't this on ESPNU? The Bronze Medal game was. They are jumping around between soccer, volleyball and swimming. Disappointed w/ ESPN's coverage.

Doyle has definitely stepped it up. Keeping us in it.

Beginning to look like Brazil is going to pull away and easily win this game. Brazil 49 USA 42. USA has missed so many layups and they have no flow on offense or defense.

Brazil 55 USA 53 End of 3rd Qtr. USA played much better down the stretch and should have the lead if they didn't miss layups.

Exciting game. When DeSouza comes back, it will be a war. Lets go USA.

Yes, but Carter has to make her Free Throws if she's going to try to take over the game by herself. Too many missed layups, otherwise USA has a comfortable lead. Brazil is playing better team ball.

Brazil is a tough and experienced team. De Souza is a 37-year-old professional who played with Lisa Leslie on the Sparks. The level of play in this championship game is fairly high.

Ha that was a humorous interaction between Vic Schaefer and Chennedy Carter after Carter took a rather ill-advised off-balance floater that didn't touch rim.

Brazil is playing really good defense and the US has just had a really hard time getting open looks. Patty hit a huge 3 that was likely the dagger to give Brazil a 10-point lead.

Collectively the U.S. guards looked pretty bad to me. Carter took some iffy shots but at least she scored some. Harris did pretty much nothing as far as I could tell. Williams didn't really do anything either.

Ladies look dead on their feet. 5 games in 5 days is dumb. They should alternate days with the men and play all the medal games the last couple days of the Games.

Perimeter shooting was fairly abysmal for the U.S. Sounds like that was a problem throughout the Games.

USA had no PG and the guards were poor ball handlers. No outside shooting. USA hit two three point shot with 20 seconds left in the game, while I can recall Brazil hitting at least four, 3 point shots. Carter for USA maybe a battler, but she has to realize there are four other players on the court with her. This is a young USA team that couldn't handle the experience of Brazil. However, with that said if USA hits some of their layups that they missed earlier in the game, they could have won.

Brazil 79 USA 73

If I’m being completely honest, I think they definitely should have taken Destiny Slocum, rather than Pulliam who spent most of the time on the bench. Why not have a player who will actually player rather than one who will ride the bench when you have five games in five days? Sug Sutton as well.

Looking at the box score, Brazil got contributions from all positions but the one who killed the US was Taina Da Paixão with 24 points on 6-9 FG and 12-14 FT (!!).

Experience and maturity count for a lot at this level, and you could tell which team had the professionals and which ones were the amateurs.
