This was a really ugly game. Paige had her ups and downs. But as you point out, DC blitzed her all game. You can only do that if the team you play doesn’t spread the floor and hit open shots, which is exactly the issue with the Wings.
It certainly won't be optimal, but I think they have the possibility to improve substantially as the season moves along. I think that James will continue to improve, as will Li, and the return of Geiselsoder could really help spread the floor, create some space and make for the possibility of effective kick-outs. No sure thing, but there is some glimmer of hope.
Her court vision is elite and the only stat it may show up in would be APG. But she would maximize the offensive talent of that team better than anybody in the country. Whether or not a team has players of the level of Sabrina or Clark as potential pass recipients/shooters, isn't it incumbent upon your teammates to call out an incoming blitz (as you would for a screen on defense) and position themselves to receive a pass?
