Obviously individual accomplishments aren't of great concern, but still can be fun to track.

Paige has 319 points.
If things go according to plan, there will be 6 more regular season games. Add 3 BET then the NCAAs. So 9+x.

Maya had 678 points her frosh year.
Sweet 16 = 12 games = 29.9 pts/game needed
Final 4 = 14 games = 25.6
Finals = 15 games = 23.9

Svet (#2) had 569 points
Paige would need 20.8 (12 games) / 17.9 (14 g) / 16.7 to pass

KLS (#10) had 408 points
Paige would need 7.4 / 6.4 / 5.9 to enter the top 10.

And in terms of any class, Rebecca 93-94 is currently in 20th place with 635 points. To tie that Paige would need to average 26.3 / 22.6 / 21.1.

The Big East had said at one time that all games that have postponed will be made up if it is possible. Right now there are two teams that UConn had postponed, Providence and Villanova, so the regular season could be 8 instead of 6.

I think it will be understood that this season will be compared on a number of games played instead of a total points scored. Scoring average will be talked about in this instance. Still sad.

What's the freshman record for ppg?
Don't really know if this definitively answers your questions but it is probably close. I calculated the PPGs. So it looks like Paige is the leader to date.

Vowelguy, why did you start the post and then say seems a bit extreme, for just some stats. You have me confused.

The stats or points don’t matter. She’s had the best freshmen season imo. Having be the leader immediately, I think she’s proven to be best freshmen in UConn history. Other than Maya, I don’t think the others are even close.

Paige has 338 points.
If things go according to plan, there will be 5 more regular season games. Add 3 BET then the NCAAs. So 8+x.

Maya had 678 points her frosh year.
Sweet 16 = 11 games = 30.9 pts/game needed
Final 4 = 13 games = 26.2
Finals = 14 games = 24.3

Svet (#2) had 569 points
Paige would need 21.0 (11 games) / 17.8 (13 g) / 16.5 to pass

KLS (#10) had 408 points
Paige would need 6.4 / 5.4 / 5.0 to enter the top 10.

And in terms of any class, Rebecca 93-94 is currently in 20th place with 635 points. To tie that Paige would need to average 27.0 / 22.8 / 21.2.

Personally, I think it's sad they play with no fans. They are missing that part of the college experience.
After rereading, let me correct my statement. I think it's sad they play with no "in person" fans. We all know they have plenty of fans. But only a few are there in person to cheer them on, to give them positive energy. That is a major part of the college experience. Without a crowd, they are playing a glorified scrimmage. Credit to them for doing to best they can. Let's pray that everything returns to normal for next season.

Not likely. Both of those teams are on pause right now.

Paige with 20 more tonight.
To pass Maya would need to avg 32.0/26.7/24.6 ppg.
Lobo 27.7/23.1/21.3
Svet 21.1/17.6/16.2
KLS 5.0/4.2/3.8

3 point shooting = 55.8%, 2nd best in NCAA

I think Paige is consciously avoiding to score (at least early in the game) as she pushes and cajoles others to shine. I really think she wants to get the spotlight off of her and on the upper classman.

I think she will be fighting every step of the way Geno's idea that first score your 20 and then give everyone else the ball.

I think, like her coach, she realizes that winning a championship is impossible if one player scores 30 and everyone else just sets screens and plays defense. I think, as her coach does, that when the tournament comes the more people scoring the better the chances of winning. I think, as her coach does, that Geno's style of play, 4 or 5 out, requires shooters from the perimeter and a post player that can get them easy baskets. I think she realizes that to do these things everyone must both be on the same Paige and not lacking in confidence in their shots. That confidence and uniformity has to come by getting repetitions now or else it will never happen. I don't think she's shy, deferring or avoiding scoring. I think she just wants to win.

Amen!

Well, recently, only three of the five starters are scoring, so that could be a problem.

That said, at a certain point in the tourney, I expect Geno to tell her "we need 30 [or 40] from you tonight."

I hope not. That's why this team is distributing the ball and trying to get other players involved. If not now then when the time comes to go to that well it'll be dry.

One of the reserves is consistently in double figures, with another close. Plus, the other starters are doing other things to help.

Once you get to the E8 you are facing defenses that are good and any good defense can neutralize one player.

PPG would be the best way to determine who was the best shooting freshman...the number of games played always varies.

Don't they still have a maximum of 22 games. At the present schedule, that would equal 22 games.

PPG is perhaps the best way to determine the highest scoring freshman but not the best shooting. Someone could score 30 PPG and be a mediocre shooter if they take 25-30 shots per game. Paige is a great shooter as it seems she rarely misses. She is also someone who likes to spread it around which holds her PPG down.
