Javafan- - Holly Rowe was inducted into either/or the Naismith HofF and the WBB HofF in the commentator/reporter segment within the last 2 years!

Yeah, those interviews are pretty worthless. However, they exist.

Not to derail - while I might grant the overall points, the logic tree is just not on. Setting aside the personal (I've been the first three), its just an overly general, simplistic, knee jerk. Al McGuire (Marquette, my favorite coaching influence), Bill Raftery (Seton Hall), Dick Vitale (Detroit Pistons) - the list of counters is massive. Perhaps more accurately, "Those who can no longer play..."

I love Holly Rowe!
Yes there are some ? that are blah but overall she is regarded as one of the top of her field!
She is loved/respected by coaches and players universally in all the sports she does!
And when she was going through her Cancer treatments, she would have chemo 1 day and fly to a game the next! She rarely took time off only if her doctors ordered her to!
Being a sideline reporter is a thankless job, you're catching players at half time and end of games when they want to rest and refresh so if she wasn't so respected the players and coaches would blow her off and leave!

Definitely a thankless job. A useless job. Created for people who can't quite make it as announcers. (really it was created to put a "pretty" face on the sidelines). And respect for her (which I'm sure many have) isn't what keeps players and coaches from blowing her (or any sideline reporter) off. It's the NCAA/schools that force them to do those silly things.

Last year I was offered SI at an extremely low rate, so I ordered it for the year to give to my 12 year old grandson. This kid knows everything about sports, and if I have a sports question about a certain player, he can tell me all about him, whether it be football, basketball, or baseball. Result, he couldn't be bothered with it. LOL, the good articles were so scarce that it reminded me of the ESPN magazine, a paper that to me is trash. Needless to say, they finally gave up on me after 3 try's to re-sign me up. It used to be the sports bible when I was a kid, but it is just a nothing magazine now. Nothing is the same as it was 30 years ago, too bad. Progress isn't always that great.

I ordered SI from my niece to help her in the girl scouts a few years ago. I never re-signed either and barely read the ones that I received. I just donate money now since I am too far away for cookies.

You have become one huge "downer"!
I have serious heart trouble and really bad arthritis, I can barely walk and there are nights I go to bed hoping I don't wake up in the morning, but I try real hard to see the good and appreciate people ( and in this day and age it's tough sometimes), but according to your frame of mind these sideline reporters are totally worthless human beings and there is no reason for them to be alive!
I read your article above and I can dig up 100 articles that prove the positive nature of sideline reporters!
I sure hope you didn't have any kids because with your hateful attitude you'd destroy their dreams!

Life was so much more simple back even 10 years ago but the lack of caring in society today is unbelievable!

I said nothing of the kind. Not even close. For you to even suggest that really says a lot about you and your hatred. You should probably seek some help. You waited hours to write that, huh? And brought my family into it, huh? Nope second thought, take away the "probably" from that sentence.
 
Hey, I know meyers7. Funny, funny guy…
Been to UConn games with him, been to dinner with him & his lovely wife and know him to be one of the funniest fans I’ve ever met. He is also real honest and posts direct opinions along with lots of humor. He sees little value in sideline reporters. The discussion was about sideline reporters and he expressed his opinion. Feel free to disagree, but try to be nice about it…
