Like I said to another friend, she's playing chess not checkers with her NIL deals. The ownership component of Unrivaled is a unique piece that could prove very valuable long term. Excellent move for both parties.

3 on 3?

3X3 can get helter/skelter as the clock runs down. I'm not a big proponent of the game. To me it's basketball Lite. I do have a little Paige 3X3 story. I think it was before she matriculated at UConn and she was in a tournament in California or Arizona. Going into her game a color commentator was poking at her for being frail looking. Two games into the tourney Paige had a new fan behind the microphone. I remember thinking 'you ain't seen nothin' yet.'

I'm skeptical about the viability of this league. I've been trying to watch Olympic 3x3 and I can't make it past a couple of minutes. Boring.

The league does have some deep pocket sponsors, so maybe it will last long enough to catch on.

Good production values. But if anyone didn't know Paige that ended when she became the first woman HS player to grace the cover of Slam magazine. I think it was in the middle of her senior season.

As I understand it, it’s going to be a full court. A shorter court but a full court with two baskets.

I think this format will be a lot different than any 3v3, 3x3 I’ve seen so far. Nothing has been released that I know of. At this point everything should be written out with just some tweets to finalize. If not, they’re in trouble.

This being my first comment on the new league… I don’t know.

Brianna and. Naphessh both had brilliant years at UConn. Both these ladies are smart. Have been introduced on how to do things the right way by some of the best coaches and programs in the country. If they’ve brought the experienced people in their lives with them it has the potential to be successful, in my opinion.

On the other hand, if they bring the WNBA welfare mentality. Disrespect potential fans. Only includes their friends. IMO, It won’t last long.

I’ve never watched even a whole quarter of a WNBA game. I’ve tuned in to see some of the kids I’de watched in college. Never found it interesting enough to continue watching.

I’ve watched some this year. Due to the Kaitlyn effect. WOW! The WNBA is awful.

Players aren’t getting fouled they’re being assaulted. Not basketball plays that results in committing a foul. The only thing I can come up with is they’re over compensating. Calling assaults “Physicality”

Glad to hear it though like @VaConnFan11 I have never been a fan, try as I might. The small full court format might change my view. The question of when in the year it is played may loom large for its success.

We all played 3x3 in our younger years. I think kids still do when they (maybe) break away from their phones and video games. I'm a little surprise we can't put better 3x3 teams in the Olympics. This kind of basketball is what soccer is to the rest of the world.

Quick {different than fast, passing is fast, but feet [the difficult part] and hands must be quick on defense} 6'2" - 6'5" women are the standard on the 3x3 courts (non-full-court game), and we will see that again in the medal winners...

But, people playing a game doesn’t always translate into fans in the stands and viewers. Look at soccer in the US. Played by many, but not watched by as many.

Based on the teams that medalled, this isn't a fair assumption. There's a mix of heights on all the medal winning teams. Germany for example had two players under 6'.

The USA squad that won in 2020(2021) had Plum on the squad who is listed at 5'8". Van Lith is about the same height if I recall correctly.

I felt that the camera people did not know how to capture 3x3. It was hard to watch because the focus was too close like a highlight film.

Maybe Kia & Aaliyah should play 3x3 for Canada. Their 3x3 team was 4th at the Olympics. The "regular" squad did not have a good run, do they have the horses to compete against the US, Australia and the top European teams?
