Paige Bueckers expected to miss rest of regular season

Wait a minute, rest of the regular season? So, even if true, she could play in tournament, right?

Not a joke. The title of the article is

"UConn women’s basketball breezes by Georgetown 90-49 with another well-rounded effort; Paige Bueckers expected to miss rest of regular season"

I was able to get the article in "outline", and it's not mentioned in the article, so I'm not sure where the rest of the comments might be.

I'm actually still pretty optimistic about Paige's return. Geno's consistently put it into perspective, and with the injuries this season, the team has done seemingly a great job of allowing players to recover/wait until they feel comfortable. Paige looks a lot better this week (I know it's just small clips), than she did two weeks ago. I'm sure in another two weeks, she will look a lot better than she looks now. Selection Sunday is 3 weeks from now, so still plenty of time until the tournament. Of course, if she's not ready, she's simply not ready. Im just optimistic she will be ready, probably by the Big East tournament, but definitely by March Madness.

Geno was not definitive in his post game comments one way or the other. But just so we don’t overreact here on the BY, we are only talking about one more week remaining in the regular season.

It is the last part of the article

Paige Bueckers update

Don’t expect reigning national player of the year Paige Bueckers to take the floor for the remainder of the regular season, according to Auriemma.

.... and a few more paragraphs after that.

Geno said it. But a couple of days ago he said it will be up to her. So who knows.

Here's a theory: The last AP poll comes out at the end of the regular season and maybe he wants to be ranked lower so he can play underdog in the postseason as a 3 seed.

I thought Geno said in the Gtown post game presser that she would not be back this week. However, he has also said in the past, that the decision of when to play is pretty much Paige's. So...

AND, what I heard Geno say was that by the BE Tournament... she will likely be back. That gives Paige more time to get ready both physically and mentally. She will continue to work with the therapists, trainers and the Coaching Staff. She has actually looked pretty decent in the short clips that I've seen... all good signs.

Alexa was going for the attention-grabbing headline for the article... to get people to click....

Apparently it worked because it looks like everyone acts like the sky is falling.

PB not playing for the remainder of the regular season is no surprise..........originally, I thought her first game back would be the opening game in the Big East tournament, but I wouldn't be surprised if they held her out for a game or two longer..........as long as she's comfortable playing decent minutes in the big tournament that's fine with me.....

What he said was: (1) she won't play against Marquette, St. John's, or Providence in the last three regular season games next week; and (2) "we'll see" whether she plays in the Big East tournament.

I didn't get any sense that she will "probably" play in the BE Tournament, just that the possibility exists.

She reported what Geno said, Paige is not going to miss the rest of the regular season".

Geno in his presser said Paige had good days and sometimes not as good days. This seems to indicate that as they ramped up her work load, her responses were not always as hoped. Paige's body saying slow it down a bit.

Sorry, but either you added a word... "not" ... by mistake OR, Alexa's article is very different than the headline that says " Paige Bueckers expected to miss the rest of the regular season."

I heard the presser... and that's what Geno said... largely because with the game schedule Paige won't get much practice time until the week leading to the BE Tournament. So, we should not expect her to play until the BE Tournament... and maybe not then... we'll see.

Obviously, a brainfart on my part in adding the word "not". That should teach me a lesson of working and posting on the BY at the same time. Getting too old to multitask effectively :)

i guess the question is, do you want to bring her back in the BE tournament where your playing every day? I guess you could bring her back in the final.. Lastly, the BE tournament is a bit consequential. I think losing it would probably cost UConn a top 3 seed.

I would prefer first NCAA game 3-16….Geno said Paige needs little time to adjust with her basketball acumen.
Another 23 days or so will get her ready to go.

I have no information to back this up but I think that Paige will do her best to play in the Senior Day game. Why, you ask? Because of the type of person that she is, Paige would want to be on the Gampel Pavilion court, possibly starting, with the three teammates that were very much a part of every award that Paige earned last year.

It’s two more weeks, folks. Today is Feb 20, three regular season games remain, the BEast tourney starts March 4.
Yup. And then there is that long lay off between the two tournaments. That's a lot of time to gain valuable practice/recovery time. If we get her back for the NCAA tourney, will she have more rust than she would probably like? Yes. But....the possibilities are endless with her back in the line up.
