She got on the wall when named to the AP 1st team. She is now the owner of the greatest Freshman season ever and is looking pretty good to be the 4th person on the Mt. Rushmore of UConn WCBB joining Taurasi, Stewart and Moore.

That is so awesome. Not only well deserved, but she's a humble, emotional kid who loves her teammates and her coaches and just wants to make everyone around her better. I figured she would say none of it was possible without her great teammates. The chemistry on this team is off the charts. I cannot wait to see what they do next!

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Paige Bueckers is in a class all by herself. UConn's star guard became the first freshman ever to win The Associated Press women's basketball player of the year award Wednesday.

Bueckers was an overwhelming choice, receiving 21 votes from the 30-member national media panel that chooses the weekly AP Top 25. Dana Evans of Louisville was second with four votes.

Congratulations to Paige and the whole team who have given all us such joy this season and something to truly watch and enjoy during this unprecedented time.

Her stats were unreal, her clutch performances were spectacular and the transformation she's given Geno to truly enjoy this group and what she's given us has been utterly remarkable. We not only appreciate her, but all the team with how they have accepted and evolved and tout "team first" at every opportunity and don't shrink from the moment. The article says she was informed about this on Monday which seems to mean she knew about it before the Baylor Game. To have that amazing news and still keep her emotions so she could play her most important game at an elite level is astonishing to me.
