Exactly. Diana joined, perhaps, the most talented team ever - and was just as unselfish (if not more so) as Paige. She was not going to play 40 minutes and she was not going to have the stats that Paige, Stewie, and Maya had. And yet she still carries the team to a final four when it mattered.

Stewie and Maya happened to join teams with All Americans, and also happened to be the perfect fit for those teams. And for much of the season..although both were the most talented on the team, they were t considered the best player on the team.

Paige is the best player on this team. No question. She also isn’t joining a team where she is the missing piece to a championship team. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes for her in the tournament. If she gets to the FF with this team, it’ll be hard to say she didn’t have the best freshman season.

But this is why it’s hard to compare. The reason no one touches DT’s career is bc she carried a team that had no business being a final four team to a championship- twice. That’s something that Stewie never had the opportunity to do - but, Stewie won 4, though lacked the competition Maya and Diana had. Hard to compare careers.

I’ll say this - there has never been a player - not at UConn or the WNBA, that I thought was more special than Taurasi. I don’t know what kind of career Paige will have, but she’s the first player I’ve seen that I thought had a shot at taking that title away from DT. (Just a shot - mind you). And that’s saying something .

The thing is, I think she is one of those players who thinks every shot is going in. That kind of confidence (coupled with talent) usually translates into a good shooting %.

If you watch a replay you can see that on 2 of her 3pt makes she was backpedaling while the ball was in the air. She knew. I've tried that putting and all I got were lip outs.

A loooong time ago (Wes B. was my classmate) I was playing for my UConn dorm team in the intramural league. I was basically an outside shooter. At halftime i was practicing catch and shoot from the top of the key basically without aiming first. Swished 6 or 7 in a row. Half starts, I run to my spot, get a pass and took that same shot. Right over the top of the backboard. So much for confidence coupled with lack of talent.

I wish I understood advanced metrics. I think I'd be impressed.

Basically, Paige is statistically the best player in the nation. She's in the top 98 percentile in the nation in just about everything. She's #1 in win shares which may be the most important of them all.

She's in the top 98 percentile in player efficiency rating and defensive player rating, the top 99 percentile in player efficiency rating per 40 minutes, offensive player rating, points per play, points per shot attempt, and effective field goal percentage, and #1 in win shares and win shares per 40 minutes.

It says she's good.

Maybe they change the rules for Paige. Shots outside the line are 2pts, inside shots are 3pts. ;)

Nobody is Maya. Difference between Paige and Maya? Paige shoots at a higher percentage from 3. Is a better passer and ball handler. Maya was stronger, more athletic ,could score in more ways, better rebounder and defender. All around player? Nobody touches Maya. Paige will be our best point guard of all time by the time she is finished.
Maya had less pressure because she didn't run the team, and she had more experienced players on her team freshman year. Paige is doing it all with 7 freshman, 2 sophomores, and 3 juniors. When Maya was a freshman there were 2 freshman, 4 sophomores, 4 juniors, and 4 seniors. Quite a difference in the two rosters.

And she was the best player on the team! The only thing I’m trying to say is that Maya could score over, under or through you. Tremendous athleticism on the drive, finished by a sweet finger roll! High altitude release on jump shot! She could muscle you down low, rebounded with the big boys.

Tough to quantify all around athleticism. Moore obviously was stronger, but Bueckers has similar hops, both can dunk. Bueckers starred in track for awhile and, to my eyes, looks at least as fast as Moore and her quickness/reaction time is off the charts. They are both similarly agile. If you think Moore is more agile I won’t argue but that is tough to gauge. Since I’ve seen Bueckers score in virtually every way, including back to the basket, I’m not sure how someone can score in more ways than her. Moore was a good but not great defender in college, not like Faris, Nurse, Jefferson or Williams, With her quickness and savvy Bueckers likely could be as good a defender as Moore, though so much of her focus will be required on offense I’m not sure she can be as consistently focused on defense.

For their freshman years, with current trajectories, Bueckers may surpass Moore with scoring, assists, A/T ratio and steals. Moore will have more rebounds. Over the course of their careers, given what’s coming in next year, I’m pretty sure Moore will outscore Bueckers to go along with rebounding. Still, it looks like in the future we will have four GOATs to argue over.

Paige has 235+30=265 points.

If no cancellations and UConn gets to the sweet16, that's 13 games.
Paige would need to avg 31.8 to top Maya's fresh record.
Paige would need to avg 23.4 to top Sveta for #2.

If no cancellations and UConn gets to the final 4, that's 15 games.
Paige would need to avg 27.5 to top Maya's fresh record.
Paige would need to avg 20.3 to top Sveta for #2.

Paige now up to FIFTY NINE POINT SEVEN %.
I hate to be a Donnie Downer, but no one averages 60% from the arc for a season. That's just unheard of video game numbers. If that continues, and I say if, how on earth can even Azzi top this? These aren't human numbers. They're not even Stef Curry numbers. If someone comes in, say Ducharme, and shoots say 52% from 3. People will actually scoff at that number! 76% since ARK? C'mon.

Would you say that Moore is more explosive? Or more relentless?
