This year, dear Boneyarders, Paczki Day is next Tuesday, March 4.
However, for those who would like to start celebrating early by scarfing down those thick, rich, and delicious Polish jelly donuts, I wanted to let you all know that last week I happened to visit my local WalMart. I needed bread, so I went to the Bakery department. They didn't have what I wanted, and I was miffed. I turned around -- and beheld, against the wall, shelves of red-and-white boxes filled with paczki!! Woo Hoo, the heck with the bread, I thought. I reverently placed 3 boxes of raspberry-filled paczki in my shopping cart and raced home to taste test them.
If ranking on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 1 being Ick and 5 being Euphorically Delicious, I'd give these all 5 stars!
Note: This Walmart also had cream cheese- and Boston cream-filled; unconventional flavors for paczki, but there you go. And I have not seen any paczki at the local Publix -- yet.
