Oregon State is coming off an 0-2 weekend in LA where they got crushed by UCLA and then gave up a lead against USC. They're back at home and looking to right the ship.

Arizona State is trending up and off to a strong start in Pac-12 play, tied with Oregon at 4-0 atop the conference standings.

This game is showing on the Pac-12 Network at 9:00 pm ET / 6:00 pm PT.

Other action around the Pac-12 tonight:
  • USC @ Colorado, currently underway. USC leads by 10 in 2Q.
  • Washington St @ Stanford, 6p PT
  • #14 UCLA @ Utah, 7p PT
  • Arizona @ #8 Oregon, 8p PT
  • Washington @ #24 California, 8p PT

ASU-OSU is ugly. Quickly changed the channel to Stanford-Washington St. Stanford is cruising 22-7 after 1Q. Looks like June Daugherty is not on the sideline for the Cougs.

ASU is leading 12-10 after 1Q.

In the nightcap I get to choose between Washington @ Cal and Arizona @ Oregon.

Stanford crushing Wazzu 45-17 at halftime. Cougs can't shoot and Stanford looks really good.

Alanna Smith and Kiana Williams have each scored 12 points. Kaylee Johnson has 11 rebounds. I don't think of Brit McPhee as a much of a playmaker but she has 4 assists and has had some beautiful dishes for easy buckets for teammates.

Oregon St. nails a 3 just before halftime to narrow the gap to 31-29.

USC is crushing Colorado, has them nearly doubled up w/ 5 minutes left in the game.

Has Stanford turned the corner??

I saw that too, but don't have any info.

I did hear that Wazzu head coach June Daugherty stayed home from this road trip for a minor medical procedure. Her husband/assistant coach Mike Daugherty is taking over for a few games. He's probably wishing he stayed home too. Cougs are playing a bit better but still down 56-28.

Beating up on Wazzu doesn't necessarily mean much, but yeah Stanford has looked fairly good since conference play started.

Ekmark hits a couple 3s in 3Q to keep ASU slightly in front, up by 1 after 3Q.

But OSU's zone has otherwise slowed ASU's offense to a trickle.

Sloppy 2nd half for Stanford. Too many TO's, poor shooting, have only scored 19 points since halftime, well into the 4th quarter. Still leading 64-44.

UCLA @ Utah early in the 2nd quarter, Bruins leading 25-23. Utes aren't pushovers this year.

ASU-OSU going down to the wire. Beavers up 1 inside a minute left, ASU shooting FTs.

56-54 OSU, 35 seconds left, ASU w/ possession.

Stanford 70-57 final. Tara is not gonna be happy w/ their performance in the 2nd half.

Close, exciting game, but the quality of play seems pretty marginal, does it not?

57-54 OSU w/ 16 seconds left, ASU ball.

I've mostly been watching the Stanford game. OSU makes me nervous. Too many TO's again. Looks like they haven't gotten much scoring outside of Gulic.

Ekmark w/ a desperation heave, partially blocked by Pivec. OSU wins. They needed this one badly.

ASU fails to run a coherent play on the final inbound, and Pivoc easily blocks an Ekmark attempt at a three. OSU holds on for the win.

Strangely, this game is immediately being followed on PAC 12 Network by another women's basketball game, Oregon vs. Arizona (minus the "State" in each case).

I think Pac 12 scheduling is fairly unique. Each school has a travel partner, and you play against another pair each week. The pairs are the Oregon schools, the Washington schools, the Arizona schools, LA schools, Bay Area schools, and Utah/Colorado. Usually alternate between home and road pair of games each week, so there are very rarely extended road trips. The only goofy part is you play your travel partner back to back the same week home and away. Nobody wants to play the same opponent twice in 3 days, but that's how it works.

Elise Woodward (one-half of the outstanding Seattle Storm broadcast team) on the call for this next one, I might just have to stick around and watch!
