Pac-12 Friday night: #18 Arizona St @ #22 Oregon St

Arizona State just executed very poorly down the stretch. In general their offense this year has been better than what I'm used to seeing from them, but tonight no one had a good shooting game except Robbi Ryan. Unfortunately, Ryan got in foul trouble in 3Q and then ended up fouling out with about a minute to play. She also missed some critical free throws.

Meanwhile, ASU had a couple defensive breakdowns late, one on an inbound play where Gulich got an easy layup, and another when Pivec dribbled the ball about 60 feet against the press and no one rotated over to stop ball.

Oregon off to a slow start, Arizona is leading 12-5. Ducks look half asleep on the floor so far.

Injuries suck.
Jordin Canada carried off the court with an ankle injury. Lets hope for a sprain....but I am not sure.

Bummer. Hope it's not serious.

Was definitely an ankle sprain. Canada just returned from the locker room and doesn't appear to be limping. That's a good sign.

Oregon has gone back to sleep again in the 2nd quarter. Only 2 bucket after 5 minutes, now leading 22-19. Bando has had four 3's rattle in and out, she's 1-5. A few of those drop and it's a very different story. Ionescu isn't getting assists because nobody is hitting shots.

Washington has no size to matchup w/ Anigwe, but somehow hanging around 29-23. I'm still pretty surprised they lost to both Utah and Colorado at home last weekend.

27-26 Oregon at halftime. They look bad. Sabally has 3 fouls and Hebard has 2.

UW had tied it up at 29 before Cal got a bucket to break a scoring drought. 1 minute ti halftime.

Oregon game is still ugly. Arizona took 7 1/2 minutes to score in the 3rd quarter. Oregon slowly pulling away 37-28. Still playing poorly. Ionescu has 19 pts and 8 rebounds, nobody else doing much. Only 3 assists because none of her teammates are hitting shots.

Jordin Canada survives the sprained ankle and gets 20 points, 8 assists, and 4 steals.

Michaela Onyenwere also had a huge game with 20 points and 12 boards.

Ducks w/ a flurry to close the 3rd quarter, up 45-31.

Cal leading UW 48-43 w/ 2 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter.

Beating up on Wazzu doesn't necessarily mean much, but yeah Stanford has looked fairly good since conference play started.
Stanford lost the second half by 15.

Yeah, Tara gets the W but plenty to give her team a talking to about. They didn't empty their bench most of the 2nd half, that was their regular rotation players giving up a big chunk of their halftime lead.

.-.
62-44 final Oregon wins. Ionescu had 22 pts. 11 reb. 4 assists. It absolutely should've been another triple double, but her teammates missed shot after shot after shot off a pass from Sabrina.

Cal wins 69-60. Anigwe w/ 26 pts and 10 rebs. I feel bad for UW. Not a whole lot of talent. They're so scrappy, they've been in every game, but just not enough firepower. 0-5 in conference, including 3 ranked teams on the road. Stanford up next, I'm giving them just about zero chance of winning that one. Such a dramatic difference from last year.

I saw that too, but don't have any info.

I did hear that Wazzu head coach June Daugherty stayed home from this road trip for a minor medical procedure. Her husband/assistant coach Mike Daugherty is taking over for a few games. He's probably wishing he stayed home too. Cougs are playing a bit better but still down 56-28.
Edwards has a leg injury. She was in warm ups but couldn’t go.

I don't think any PAC12 team will have less than 2 losses in conference when league play finishes.

I think so too. Nobody has had less than 2 losses the last 3 years (OSU leading the way of course). Stanford had 1 loss the 2 previous years before that. Nobody has run the table since Stanford in '11-'12. I think the league is too balanced and nobody is dominant enough to go undefeated these days.

An interesting note about last night, with the loss Washington St. fell to 0-63 all time against Stanford. That is some serious futility!
