Will be a lot tougher than Texas and South Carolina. We will either have LSU or Vandy in ours and UCLA while South Carolina and Texas will have probably Duke and Iowa as their 2 seeds. So much for #1.

If everything goes according to chalk, but ask Vandy about that assumption!

The reality is by the E8 everyone is playing really well and games are hard to win, and FF games are always tough. You play the games and you try to beat whoever is on the court against you.

We have to beat six teams, and after what should be an easy first game, the competition starts ramping up each round.

I have one observation about this 2026 NC, and that is , Uconn has beaten every one of them in past games. They are no puzzle about how they play or how good they are suppose to be. Uconn has a 10 player working team that is in reality, the best 10 player team in the country. I'm sure Geno has his strategy all worked out on how to handle each team and win. I believe in Geno and I believe in this team that Uconn will have a Mini Win Streak for the last time in 2026. GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!

I'm confused. Are you saying if everything goes the way it's supposed to, UCONN would meet UCLA in the final 4? Pretty sure that's incorrect. The only way would be if both teams make the finals.

I think @Rudy1927 is expressing their frustration that UConn and UCLA get tougher 2 seeds (LSU and Vandy) than SCar and Texas (Duke and Iowa) despite being the top #1 seeds.

First, the brackets aren't set. We have no idea who will be in our bracket.

As to UCLA, they are good, no question. So are we. But I will remind people that no team is guaranteed to make it to the final four. Many a #1 seed has fallen along the way.

The talking heads are pushing the "UCLA is this and that." The heads have to generate interest. Ignore it. UConn has fallen along the road to the final four a few times.

Lots of assumptions here. First off, in order for UConn to face Vandy in the Elite 8, Vandy probably has to beat MI, a team they beat by 3 pts earlier in the season. As for UCLA, they likely have to get through LSU, a team with significantly more athleticism than the Bruins. Finally, there are a number of potential upsets a long the way for teams like TX & SC including Louisville, Duke, OK & TCU to name a few.

I guarantee you that once the brackets are announced Geno and his staff will pay 0 attention to any team beyond the 3 teams that show up in Storrs for the first weekend of the Big Dance.

Most of all, right now I am concerned that the committee will give the overall #1 to UCLA. Based on the killing they gave Iowa, losing only one game, with 18 quad 1 wins, many podcasters are giving it to UCLA, not us. If that happens, we have to leave the BE, even going independent if we have to, but if this happens it is all on the BE conference. UConn has done everything in their power to play as many great teams as possible, but this conference is hurting us big time, its like playing in a mid-major conference that will only get 1 bid. IMO, even though UCLA plays in a good conference, it would be a gigantic slap in the face to deny the #1 seed to the undefeated defending National Champions.

Maybe over the years, but last year not a single number one seed was knocked out prior to the final four unless they played UConn.

In 2024, one seed USC was defeated by UConn in the regional final, but Texas was the only one seed to fail to advance to the final four by a loss to a team other than UConn

Prior to that we didn't have the super confernces settled. (Texas and Oklahoma were still part of the Big 12, plus UCLA and Stanford were part of the Pac-12

The SEC 1 teams get to avoid the sec 2 seeds; and yes it is an advantage. But I think it is fair because they played against the grueling SEC conference all season.

Take a dep breath. Everything is just fine. Going independent is a pretty radical idea and honesty isn't even possible.

The committee could easily decide to give the #1 overall seed to UCLA, given the sheer number of ranked teams that they have had an opportunity to play and defeat. If that meant that UConn was #2 overall, I couldn't say that was unfair.

But I also don't think it is that significant. It would theoretically mean that UConn would get the #7 overall seed in the Elite Eight round instead of the #8 seed, but Elite Eight pairings are likely to be distorted by other factors (such as avoiding intraconference re-runs) that it isn't likely to make much difference. If UConn can't defeat EITHER the #7 or #8 seed in the Elite Eight, then the team doesn't deserve the National Championship.

Really, the only effect of this decision is that UConn would wear blue rather than white uniforms when/if it faces UCLA in the Championship game. Last year, wearing blue uniforms in the semifinal round, UConn beat UCLA by 30 points, so that shouldn't trouble UConn fans very much.

i like the idea of getting the number one overall seed. UCLA will have a really tough run to get to the national title game in that scenario. They would probably have to get by lsu and Texas. And I am not sure how they match up with either of those teams.

I just watched a podcast, Locked on Women's Basketball, which I picked up from YouTube. A first class discussion between two excellent hosts and the reason I am making this post is that today's episode is primarily about the UCLA vs. UCONN debate regarding the overall number 1 seed and they also have a great discussion of the WCB POY. Really a non biased discussion from two people who are associated with WNBA teams. They come down on the side of UCONN based on a number of factors including an eye test in which the two Huskies are superior to Betts and all the rest of the Bruins.

They also spend quite a bit of time on the Wooden Award and the discussion of Blakes come out as more of an afterthought .

Really interesting
