Other teams you like / root for (or don't)

Root for NC State.

Root against UNC.

The rest kinda come and go based on coaches and players and how it effects NC State or if any of their fans have seemed annoying to me.
Generally I tend to root against Maryland most of the time in all sports, but then again I tend to root against the Big 10 in general and in a way I don't mind seeing Maryland beat up on the old guard of the Big 10. Complicated situation. In the SEC I tend to pull against Tennessee in most sports and after attending a State/Vandy CWS game and being around "the whistler" who was one of the most annoying fans I've been around - I tend to root against Vandy as well. I have next to no feelings one way or the other about the Big 12, probably tend to pull for teams from that conference over the SEC or Big 10 just because they represent a similar situation the ACC is in compared to those 2 power conferences. Within the ACC, outside of the obvious distaste for the baby blues, I tend to root against Syracuse and Notre Dame. Syracuse has some annoying fans at least on the men's side and never cared for Boeheim. ND I don't think needs to be explained.

This is what I visualized while reading this part of your reply. I could see you in the corner eating popcorn watching BIG10 teams playing each other and enjoying the carnage.

The SC administration needs to step up and stop that nonsense.
It was a not very well kept secret that the legendary Coach K had a potty mouth on the sideline, nobody ever did anything about that, and all the talking heads fell all over themselves his entire career talking about what a shining example he was.

I don't get the pearl clutching when it comes to the use of cuss words and level of appropriateness. The coach from Oklahoma was caught on the mic saying that same word after a recent win on ESPN and I don't recall much conversation or chastising her for it her on the board or in social media. Some Twitter posts seemed empathetic implying they felt the same way.

If administrations are going to expect coaches to clamp down on their language, it would have to be straight across the board for all sports. Not sure how that would work.

So... NOT a UConn fan??

Neutral. When they play a team I don't like, I am UConn fan. When they play a team I like, I root against them. If they play a team that I have no feelings about, I root for a close exciting game.

Why did you have to put his name in this conversation, you could have easily inserted the UConn's WBB coach name in place of the former Duke MBB coach ? 😤 This is a WBB conversation we are having 😒

They all do it to some extent. How many F words have I seen caught on camera, if not on sound. The men's coaches are just worse, IMO. So are men's fans, generally, for that matter.

And I am about the same regarding UConn. When I was following Rutgers, I respected but was usually a bit anti UConn. After we left Rutgers, I stopped rooting against UConn unless they play someone I really, really like. So, neutral usually, but huge respect.

If saying a certain word is no big deal, why was there so much of a stink about Adia Barnes using a certain finger? I can't really see how one is a bigger deal than the other?

I didn't understand it when that happened as well.

I root for Louisville because of Coach Waltz.

When my daughter graduated from graduate school, she had applied to an open assistant coaching position at Louisville. Although, he wasn't going to hire her, he called her. He explained why he wasn't hiring her and what she needed to do. He spoke to her for about 5-10 minutes. He took time out of his day when he didn't have to. Although I always liked him, this just reinforced that and showed me what kind of person he is.

I'm a Kara fan more than I am a Duke fan. I'm pulling for Duke, but only because she is there. If she were anywhere else (other than Tennessee or Notre Dame) I'd probably root for that team.
Same here. I got over the whole "Lady Vol" dislike years ago. I am a fan of hers because of her basketball knowledge, the way she treats her team/coaching staff/and people, and just her being Kara Lawson. She has an aura. A glow. A vibe about herself that just draws you in.

Elephants never forget, and neither do I.

2004 Regional Final in Norfolk.. played on a Tuesday Night. And they later had the nerve to hire the coach most responsible for the Gopher Victory. Mad just thinking about it, lemme head to the kitchen.

I have watched a lot of Vandy this year. It is fun because she runs a bunch of UConn stuff.

I persuaded of who I root for by who coaches them. I think Denise Dillon, Jan Jensen and Jeff Waltz do a great job. Easy to cheer for.

Coach Abe, strongly dislike their style of play.

The Big Ten has a couple of up and comers with Robyn Fralick at MSU and Shauna Green at Illinois.
